Did any other president in history, run around suing the states, trying to get invovled with state activities as much as Obama? I cant think of many instances where they thought it was their job to police the world.
Obama thinks he's the new sheriff in town and everybody has to bow to his wishes. I guess he should have learned something at Harvard other than how to suck the taxpayers dry playing community organizer.
Florida compared driver's license records with voter registration records and came up with the list of 182,000 registered voters who may not be U.S. citizens. The state did not send out the list because it was trying to access a federal immigration database to double-check the names.
.........
A spokesman for Scott said the state will not distribute that longer list unless the state can check the names against a federal immigration database. Florida is suing to obtain access to that database after getting rebuffed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
FYI it's actually the DOJ that is blocking them from that list. The **** will hit the fan if they get their hands on that data. There could be some severe consequences nationwide if it's founf there is tens of thousands illegally registered.

The list is a national federal database, and by law, the state is not only entitled to it, but required to use it for other reasons. Going to get very interesting indeed.
This is another example as to the federal government doing things without understanding or thinking through the consequences completely.

I've yet to find the specific reference but there was two articles I read that cited a Homeland Security booklet that said it could be used for voter registration. The argument the DOJ has put forth is not that it can't be used for that purpose but instead the way Florida wants to use it won't produce reliable results.

But the federal governments job isnt to analize if the results are reliable or not. Elections are a state process, with the states setting standards.
