My marriage was 100% legal as soon as all parties signed the marriage license.

Are civil marriages not obtained by filing civil marriage paperwork?

You are correct. That piece of paper then needs to be notarized, filed with a county clerk, and all applicable fees need to be paid.

it is merely an artificial union.

Where is the emotional and spiritual bond here?

No, it's the registering of a civil contract between two people who, to some degree, wish to legally combine their lives with the state in order to access a collection of rights.

Bonds like that aren't made of paper.

You mean gays can't have an "emotional and spiritual" bond? Does this explicitly require one person have a penis and the other a vagina?

Adam = man

Eve = woman

Therefore, the human race began with man, and woman, e.g. Adam & Eve.

The human race didn't begin with man and man, nor woman and woman.

It's a matter of natural human biology.
