I wish I could say otherwise. And, yes, it is different in some ways.

BUT, it appears the current (and probably historical) ignorance among great swaths of the populace crosses all boundaries. That is, whether left, right or center the ability of Media and 1/2 truths and Social Media to brainwash people is beyond doubt.

I'd classify it as "media without education" or, in the older way "a little knowledge is much worse than none at all". Problem today is that 90% of our population probably fits that later category.

What got me thinking about this is the Biden thing...but it certainly is also dozens of other BS issues. In the Biden case, I see "long term lefties" I have known buying it...lock, stock and barrel. Now....of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion, BUT my assumption is that none of these people know anything about who Biden is. They don't know he lost his entire family in a car crash early in his career. They don't know his Son, an Iraq Vet, to Brain Cancer just a few years back.

Even more importantly, they don't know his history in the Senate, etc.

That all said, my friends "eating their own" doesn't compare to, say, vast percentages of the population not believing in science...or pushing vast conspiracy theories or pretending that it is backwards and opposite day every day (Trumpism....bad is good and good is bad).

I hope ALL Americans can start reading more books. While I won't be donating to "Biden for POTUS" anytime soon, I do take the measure of a Human Being in a relative and complete manner...that is, taking their entire life and history PLUS their comparison with other known quantities in account.

Some of my friends on the Right, as we see in these threads, think everything is equivalent. Trump grabbing puzzies and paying off porn stars whilst cheating on his 3rd wife is EXACTLY like rubbing someone's shoulders in public, right?

I have to conclude this. While many of my prog friends are truly fooled (ignorant on the matters), I think many of my more Rightish fellows HAVE to know they are intentionally lying and misleading for partisan purposes only.

In that sense, I guess, the Right is smarter (more deceitful) than the Left.

Agree..or disagree?

This whole Biden bruhaha just makes me wonder who is the real power behind the throne of the DNC? It seems to be that Joe Biden would be the perfect 2020 democratic candidate. Not only is he associated with the "good old days" of Obama, but he's pretty middle of the road and you'd think he'd appeal to a wide variety of voters.

But NO, instead, the DNC is obviously manufacturing this media outrage crapstorm in order to kill his presidential bid early on so that the democrats can put up someone like Kamala Harris or another far-lefty who is firmly in bed with movement politics and other "woke" causes that actually only appeal to a tiny slice of the electorate (mostly younger urban voters).

So, what or who is in charge here?

If I had to guess, I'd say we're probably even. Some on both sides are well-educated and thoughtful about the issues. Some are ignorant and will buy into anything, especially if it supports already-firmly-held beliefs of theirs. Some spread misinformation and propaganda despite knowing better. I think the second group might be the largest, on both sides. I encounter the third on social media and they share bogus news articles and present them as gospel. When you point out to them why the articles they posted are not legitimate, they say, "Oh, I know, but I hate [Clinton, Trump--whoever] so I think it's hilarious."

It's been shown time and time again that conservatives and people over 65 believe and share fake news more, so I can't agree with you on this. As far as Biden goes, he's just a touchy person. He's touchy with men too. There's nothing sexual about it.

Do you think that's all there is to it? Have you seen the videos? Talk about misleading.

I read plenty of books and I do not need to read anymore in order to figure out the DNC is likely behind this assassination on Biden. Its all political. Nobody cares that he is a nice guy or that he has had a world of hurt in his life. Whomever decided HRC was going to be the nominee and Sanders had to be put down is probably the same people who are bringing Biden down. He is not "their" choice. I guess we will soon find out who is.

The whole Biden thing is overblown, as he's just creepy, and it doesn't look like anything Illegal.

As far as the Right being more deceitful than the Left, Chicago Democratic politicians are the epitome of deceitful and 2nd to none.

Gregarious in youth is creepy in older age.

Biden doesn't put on pretenses - he's a good guy who just is who he is.

For better or worse (actually worse), today our POTUS is often picked by "feelings" like "he seems creepy", which are fed to us by mass media or opposition research.

The guy who was best at telling women they are ugly and tellings guys they had small weiners won the contest for POTUS.

The larger point my be how we pick our pols....the guy who was not given a bad enough nickname by the neighborhood bully? The bully being paid by Billionaires to spew?

That why, at the crux of my argument, is the hope people will read and research more on all issues.
