Well, as to who did it - I suppose one could dig into that.

But the larger point of my OP is that it doesn't matter who feed the info into the mob. Whether Putin, some trolls, the DNC or the RNC or BB or State-TV or Hate Radio....the problem is that people "go with it".

There is no level of BS which, it seems, you can't get 15-20% of the population to buy. If your BS is a longer lived variety (Earth is 6,000 years old, etc.), you can get 30-60%.

BUT, it appears the current (and probably historical) ignorance among great swaths of the populace crosses all boundaries. That is, whether left, right or center the ability of Media and 1/2 truths and Social Media to brainwash people is beyond doubt.

I'd classify it as "media without education" or, in the older way "a little knowledge is much worse than none at all". Problem today is that 90% of our population probably fits that later category.

What got me thinking about this is the Biden thing...but it certainly is also dozens of other BS issues. In the Biden case, I see "long term lefties" I have known buying it...lock, stock and barrel. Now....of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion, BUT my assumption is that none of these people know anything about who Biden is. They don't know he lost his entire family in a car crash early in his career. They don't know his Son, an Iraq Vet, to Brain Cancer just a few years back.

Even more importantly, they don't know his history in the Senate, etc.

That all said, my friends "eating their own" doesn't compare to, say, vast percentages of the population not believing in science...or pushing vast conspiracy theories or pretending that it is backwards and opposite day every day (Trumpism....bad is good and good is bad).

I hope ALL Americans can start reading more books. While I won't be donating to "Biden for POTUS" anytime soon, I do take the measure of a Human Being in a relative and complete manner...that is, taking their entire life and history PLUS their comparison with other known quantities in account.

Some of my friends on the Right, as we see in these threads, think everything is equivalent. Trump grabbing puzzies and paying off porn stars whilst cheating on his 3rd wife is EXACTLY like rubbing someone's shoulders in public, right?

I have to conclude this. While many of my prog friends are truly fooled (ignorant on the matters), I think many of my more Rightish fellows HAVE to know they are intentionally lying and misleading for partisan purposes only.

In that sense, I guess, the Right is smarter (more deceitful) than the Left.

Agree..or disagree?
You and I rarely agree, but in this case, I completely agree.

The one thing that erks me to no end is the blatant hypocrisy that many seem proud of. If you call one side out for a "thing" you look like a fool when you defend someone from "your side" for that very same "thing".

Our society is falling apart as we all seem to be retreating to our own personal islands. We are uber-social yet completely isolated.

e unum pluribus

NOT what we are supposed to be.

I agree as the Mueller investigation demonstrates. Mueller was a hero to Dems, until he issued his report.

I have to say. its fun watching the left struggle to figure out what the heck they mean when they think of politics in moral terms. Its unnatural for them. I am enjoying the pain this seems to be causing.

personally im not getting into it. I don't care if ya'll burn joe to the ground or nominate him for president. that's yalls issue. I gave up pointing out horrible rapey nasty behavior on the left a long time ago because yall didn't care.

Trump gets elected and you all find some version of a moral core. well struggle. its fun watching you all hurt. LOL.

For better or worse (actually worse), today our POTUS is often picked by "feelings" like "he seems creepy", which are fed to us by mass media or opposition research.

The guy who was best at telling women they are ugly and tellings guys they had small weiners won the contest for POTUS.

The larger point my be how we pick our pols....the guy who was not given a bad enough nickname by the neighborhood bully? The bully being paid by Billionaires to spew?

That why, at the crux of my argument, is the hope people will read and research more on all issues.

Aside from the democrats eating their own, do you ever wonder if the media broadcasts these Biden stories because they are making a fortune with Howard Stern in the White House?

I think the OP in this case even had a tentative go at some metaethics.

Even if his conclusions are wrong, at least it's progress compared to the usual social justice screed.

When people stop believing vaccines work....what more needs to be said?

I have very close friends that believe this crap. Others that practice quackery (homeopathy, etc.).

When people start believing water is not wet, it's time for them to dig further into molecular structures, surface tension and other subjects which may buttress their interpretations of the filth they are fed.

I think TMI is at the heart of much of it. Humans had no reason to evolve in a manner where we would become capable of sorting out billions of words, images and interactions. We are specialists and that in itself argues against each citizen becoming some sort of expert...on everything!

Whether we are falling apart or this is just a phase in our situation...remains to be seen. Neither you nor I will likely be around to ever see any true conclusion.

Biden has been this way for years, never came up during the elections or the prior 8 years, but he is getting close to announcing and this woman felt the need to come forward because she was uncomfortable. Greater forces at work.
