Co-ed classrooms, it turns out, aren't good for anyone.

"The Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) results were as follows:

Percentage of students scoring proficient on the FCAT.
Boys in coed classes: 37% scored proficient.
Boys in single-sex classes: 86% scored proficient.
Girls in coed classes: 59% scored proficient.
Girls in single-sex classes: 75% scored proficient.

'Remember, these students were all learning the same curriculum in the same school.…Many of those boys who scored proficient in the all-boys classes had previously been labeled ADHD [Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder] or ESE [Exceptional Student Education] in coed classes.'”

More studies and statistics found here:

"In 2000, Benjamin Wright, principal of the Thurgood Marshall Elementary School in Seattle, Washington, led his school in a transformation from traditional coed classrooms to single-sex classrooms. . . with astonishing results. Mr. Wright was concerned about the high number of discipline referrals he was seeing: about 30 children every day were being sent to the principal's office because of discipline problems (about 80% were boys). He decided to make the switch to single-sex classrooms in hopes of decreasing the discipline problem.

The results exceeded his hopes. Discipline referrals dropped from about 30 per day to just one or two per day. 'Overnight. The change in the atmosphere happened overnight.' Same kids, same teachers. Switching to single-sex classrooms had a dramatic effect, instantly."

Michelle certainly was a distraction. I can't say that I think it's necessarily a good thing to remove that out of the equation.

37% to 86%? I'm afraid something is askew here.

The first link is sponsored by an extremist Catholic organization seemingly hell-bent on starting a new Crusade...

...and the second one is all about the rantings -- er, I mean research -- of one Dr Leonard Sax, a well-criticized loon (who, in part, advocates for the corporal punishment of boys). Look up MCRCAD or NASSPE. Where does the OP find this garbage?

Pass.

Michelle is safe. She couldn't be removed retroactively in any case. Going forward, however, single-sex education could only improve the dim prospects of today's boys with respect to the fairer sex.

The numbers shouldn't surprise anybody. For hundreds of years it was plain common sense. I've seen the difference first hand.

For hundred of years people worshipped the Sun as a God. It was plain common sense. Like human sacrifice.

There was a study...actually many studies of the effects of having a very attractive girl close to an adolescent boy. Invariably, the boy actually goes a little crazy, and finds it difficult to concentrate.

There is some merit outside of religious dogma for the concept of single sex classrooms.
