There are a lot of full-time jobs that pay 29k a year. Most of them are pink collar jobs. Teacher assistants...nurse's aides...receptionists...day care workers. Those are jobs that are mostly occupied by women and they rarely pay more than 30k annually. To say that Julia doesn't work or doesn't want to work is a lie. Julia works but her job sucks.
Many white collar jobs are salaried. "Julia" gets to clock in and out like a Borg drone and likely can take vacations with more flexibility from her employer, as her job likely does not entail responsibilities of project deadlines, etc.
summers, almost seems like your jealous of those taking advantage of the system.
No, because as of now I'm getting paid much more than that cut off cliff. Plus, I got to milk the system several times before in grad school getting my Ph.D. and while I was unemployed finishing my master's. I'm good to go.
This is true, but the rate at which new people are sighing up for welfare is to fast to keep up with the taxes being paid to cover it.
Ponzi/pyramid schemes only work for the first ones in. The returns diminish over time when new "investors" come in insufficient quantities to maintain the system.
There is a Fed limit of 5 years but states can go longer using their own money.
DC is one place that finally had to crack down because they were running out of money.
They had lifetime welfare. They changed their rules and will be kicking people longer than 5 years off the rolls in 2014.

so why are you going after these people when you said you did the same thing.
i got no problem with people getting everything possible. the system is in place for you too.

You don't know what Julia's job entails and some of those low paying pink collar jobs are salaried. You also can't assume that Julia doesn't work as hard as you do because she is paid less. How do you know what kind of vacation time is offered or if there is even money for a vacation? First you assume that Julia doesn't work or deliberately chooses a job with poverty wages and then you assume she is living high off the hog.
The "big deal" is that it encourages people to suckle at the government teat as opposed to getting a job, or seeking a higher paying job (or working more hours). It encourages a class of dependents.[/quote]
Maybe Julie's mother did'nt have the mental or physical stamina to get a higher payin job yoiu Hogwasher!
Well think about it. The government will provide you food, cell phone and other assistance.
You get to keep more of your paycheck as disposable income.
Food and rent are a big part of your income. You need a lot less when you don't have to pay it.
Explains how the so called poor can afford luxury items.
