Excellent link--thanks. The big problem with mental health screenings is the mental health health profession itself. In their zeal to maximize rent-seeking income, they have minimized their credibility. Not too many years ago, homosexuality was a mental disorder according to the diagnostic manual (DSM); now homophobia is a disorder.

I believe that they could come up with an objective and reasonable standard that would allow keeping guns out of the hands of those suffering from mental illness. But it would require a massive reduction in the scope of what is regarded as 'mental illness.' Especially with ObamaCare on the horizon, it's not going to happen.

This was absolutely pre-meditated evil. Another evil incarnate. A coward who kills innocent people at random, but is too much of a coward to die themselves.

I feel for the victims, the families of the victims, and the parents of this evil incarnate.

The dark one is giving it all he's got these days.

But he's not going to win.

It's Federal, and yes every one has to run a NICS check for FFL purchases, which includes involuntary committal and any ruling of incompetence, because that's reported to the NCIC which is one of the things that is checked during a NICS search.

Good to know. That certainly is a start. Was this found to be unconstitutional? Is this not an abridgment to the right to have firearms? Why not go a step further and require the test for those who should be found incompetent.

I can get a BG check while I'm paying for the firearm. No so with your idea

Very. Hence just one of the Constitutional issues.

Well we would not want to inconvenience anyone wanting to go out and kill something.

I think dumb voters are less physically dangerous than a weirdo with a gun. Even though dumb voters also ruin the country, I'll unfortunately take them over mentally unstable people with guns and ammo.
