Well, considering 98% of Americans earn less than that..... seems high to me, I would prefer $100K even though it would impact me a bit, I can certainly afford to pay a little more.
It's not "a little more," bob. Did you read the linked article? It says,
Quote:
those making a yearly individual income over $200,000 or couples with an income above $250,000 will see their taxes increase 36 and 39.6 percent from the current 33 and 35 percent respectively over the next year.
Instead of finding ways to CUT SPENDING, which is what's actually needed, this bill just divides Americans, forcing the debate across some arbitrary income lines. ALL TAXPAYERS PAY TOO MUCH. How do we not understand this?
You conveniently miss the point. My paying a little more does not help, but millions of mes and yous paying a little more, does help.
NO IT DOESN'T. The only thing that will help is to CUT SPENDING. Let the people keep as much of their money as possible, taking from them in taxes only what is necessary to run a lean government with as few departments and as little overhead as possible. More & more people paying "a little more" just strengthens the idea that government can continue to waste our money and demand more of it whenever they run out. PUT A STOP TO THAT!!

You are right, instead of finding ways to cut spending the Democrats want to spend more money in the name of stimulus. Q3 will probably be passed too, meaning printing money and the national debt goes higher.
They want you to believe that it is the evil Republicans who don't care about the middle class and the Democrats are already convincing you of this essentially convincing you that they have your best interest at heart, in a way, buying your vote. They know your angry and its easy to be angry at someone who has more so they got your vote through demonization of the wealthy. Its an easy psychology to see through.
The Republicans know that the Democrats are not telling the truth and that the Democrats believe that spending more money will stimulate the economy and as you know from previous stimulation attempts it does not work.
The Republicans know that if they pass the tax increase it is estimated that there will be a loss of 800 Million more jobs and will hurt the middle class tremendously.
Clinton passed a bipartisan effort to reform Welfare and Obama is tearing it to shreds.
They are also spending more on Welfare, already a 40% increase in recipients. The Democrats are encouraging people to apply for welfare. They are even changing the name so Welfare does not carry the stigma that it does now. If more people are on welfare then these people are not counted as unemployed and the unemployment number goes down.
They don't want to stop spending and the debt will continue to rise. Who is going to pay for even more spending? First, they are going after the rich, next they will go after the middle class.
Senate wrecklessly raises taxes in down economic cycle.
Your right, A couple years back Obama did say that you don't raise taxes in a down economy. We are on the verge of another recession and he IS raising taxes. What do you think that will do? Put us right back into recession of course.
I just don't get Obama and his economic policies. His policies are hurting everyone and people won't even know it until it is to late.
These people don't give a da** about the middle class. They are simply selling you a package to get more money.
