Is this the 5th or 6th similar ruling?

http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com...12/07/31/45266

"Today, a U.S. District Court Judge ruled that Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional as a violation of equal protection guarantees. Her ruling comes with respect to claims brought by six married same-sex couples and one widower from the states of Connecticut, New Hampshire and Vermont who were denied federal tax, social security, pension and family medical leave protections only because they are (or were) married to someone of the same sex. Under the ruling, the plaintiffs’ marriages must be accorded the same federal protections and responsibilities as those of other married couples."

"'Judge Bryant’s ruling is very clear: married people are married and should be treated as such by the federal government. There is no legitimate basis for DOMA’s broad disrespect of the marriages of same-sex couples'"

And by a judge appointed by George W. Bush. It's interesting to see how many Republican-appointed judges are supporting same-sex marriage.

I think it goes to show how there is really no legal argument for banning it.

I see it more as "It's interesting to see people put aside their personal beliefs and to look at facts alone when making judicial decisions".

That's five Circuit Courts of Appeal decisions that have rejected DOMA.

Gill v. Office of Personnel Management
Massachusetts v. United States Department of Health and Human Services
Golinski v. Office of Personnel Management
Windsor v. United States
Pederson v. Office of Personnel Management -- the latest decision

It won't be long, now. Within a year the USSC will overturn this travesty, and all legally-married same-sex couples will be recognized as such by the federal government.

I would like to take part in this thread but see that I would be relatively alone so won't do so. Those who are celebrating here know so much more about the subject matter than I do so I best just read from now on so as to learn unless I am not allowed.

^This. It shows the judges are ruling based on the law, not their personal political views. And the law doesn't support DOMA as Constitutional.

The overturn of DOMA is the only way conservatives and liberals may be able to find a truce in this matter.

They say, "leave it up to the states..."

Fine. So long as gay couples in say, Arkansas, who get married in New York, can come home and still get all the benefits of if they were a straight couple that went on vacation to Vegas, got married, and came back to Arkansas!
