As the title says, I'm new here and was wondering what the slant of this board is. Based on what I've been reading this board seems to have a lot of Fox News type conservatives, but I just want to see for myself based on the polls. Feel free to share any experiences. As for myself I do consider myself a market oriented moderate who leans left on some social issues. The current GOP and right wing fringe movement known as the Tea Party has moved me a little more to the left or enough that I wouldn't consider voting for a right wing candidate because the moderate conservatives have been voted out.

If anyone isn't sure they could try out this test:

http://www.politicalcompass.org/test

It has some loaded questions, but it's fairly accurate and two dimensional.

Lots of good Democrats, lots of good Republicans... Always bickering and pointing fingers at each other.

Some people telling them both parties are the same and both are guilty.

That about sums it up.

Smaller government is better government. I'm a libertarian.

You must live in the real world, meaning you've got to accept social security, medicare, and other programs that enjoy massive support by the public. These programs should be solidified with taxation to pay for them in full.

But we should end the drug war. We should gut defense. We should allow state and local governments to take more or a role in the regulation of natural resources, emission regulations, education, etc.

Where I differ from many libertarians is that I understand that there is only so much shrinking that the vast majority of people will accept. As such, I pick my battles.

Very neo-conservative and facts tend to just bounce off of them.

Interesting. A lot of libertarians don't consider someone else a libertarian if they support government spending, but I don't really pay attention to those types anyway since they're too ideological

I do listen to more pragmatic types such as Tyler Cowen and Arnold Kling(both economist at GMU).
