On this site we both think that we're extremist, meaning typically we think of the stereotypical conservative or liberal. Not all conservatives are people who are from Texas who love guns, oppose any and every form of welfare, want a $1 trillion defense budget, and oppose all Chinese made products. Same goes for liberals, we all aren't hippies, who believe everyone deserves a govt handout, nor do all of us smoke marijunana, nor believe the military budge should be $1,000,000 annually, nor do we believe anyone should be paying 70% on taxes if they happen to be wealthy, nor do we worship Obama (though I've seen some who don't disagree with anything he does). So lets attempt to make a bit of peace here, neither of us are perfect, and hopefully most of us aren't conservative or liberal extremists that we seem to imply about each other especially on this site.

So peace? Could that work? Refrain from calling someone who doesn't agree with your own personal beliefs a neocon, *******, etc.

The labelling started from a certain set of talk show hosts and has grown to permeate and poison all political discourse in this country. The "if you don't agree with me on this talking point, you're automatically one of them" mentality, where all "liberals" have a certain set of beliefs they subscribe to, and "conservatives" all believing the opposite, with no grey area.
Most of the world is grey, whether people on here want to believe it or not.

I think the reaction you're looking for is for people to be reasonable. I can get with that. The problem is that many posters, in here, aren't trying to be rational. Their goal isn't to discuss, trade views, and find middle ground. They have been trained to automatically hate others if their personal beliefs differ from their own. How they justify this hate is way beyond me, but they do.

I wish you luck in your quest of solidarity.

The stereotyping on this board is extreme. My first post on this board a couple months ago I got attacked relentlessly and probably the guy that attacked me the most and was most off based on my politicals/religious/moral beliefs turns out agreed with me that Dr. Paul was the best political candidate.

I do think the hatred of the left toward anyone with a conscience/morals is very troubling and bodes future disaster if they gain full control of this country...similar to what Stalin and Mao Zedong imposed.

How dare you propose derailing America's latest national past-time! If Springer were still popular, we'd meet on his stage and scream and duke it out for that free weekend hotel room in Chicago!

I honestly don't mind that we have our differences, it's a great thing about our political system, we have the freedom to be liberal, conservative, independent, etc. But too often it seems like one party or the other wants to see America have a sole/ mono-political party. Just get over our differences, you may oppose birth control, I may oppose everyone being able to possess a AR-15 but we have to get over it. What will name calling get us? You "*******s want to punish success", how in any shape or form have we done that? Instead say "liberals seem to want to over-tax those whom are wealthier". See where I'm going with this? Internet beef isn't needed, and in all honestly I'm friends with plenty of liberals and conservatives, Obama and Romney supporters, and etc but I won't degrade them because of their political views. Hell I may be liberal but I find myself questioning my political party sometimes, but oh well. I know this peace talk is non-sense to most eyes, but it would be nice if we can just tone it down a bit.

I ain't no ho, you da ho!! **throws a chair**

panem et circenses

It's all political theater these days. From talk radio to the MSM to Obama and Christie together to Romney and his fake donations to Sandy victims. It may not be deliberately designed to polarize America but don't doubt that there are plenty who will take advantage of it. We'll keep shouting hatred at one another until the day we're stopped and asked for our papers at checkpoints. It's already happening. Then we'll wake up and ask "WTH happened??"

And somewhere Honey Boo Boo and her clan of four chinned Jabba The Hutt lookalikes will laugh maniacally....

The problem is that these issues impact one personally. If you or your family can't get the proper medical treatment because some greedheads oppose the establishment of universal health care, you take it personally because you don't want your loved ones to die, and you don't want to be bankrupt.
