Back when they were in the Republican Party far fewer as a percentage were on social programs and there was on average over 80% two parent households. Today that is gone with the black Democrat.
1. 39% of blacks are on welfare. 14% of whites are on welfare. While the absolute number of white welfare recipients ARE WHITE, keep in mind that blacks make up 13% of the population. Therefore blacks are nearly three times more likely to be on welfare than whites.
2. Blacks and Hispanics make up 36% of the prison population. Again, given that blacks are 13% of the US population, there is a very large disproportionate number of blacks in prison.
3. 70% of black children are born out of wedlock.
4. 72% of black children are raised in single parent families, while the rate for the US in general is 25%.
5. Black unemployment rate is 15.8%, while that of the nation is 8.3%.
ok i read it. how objective do you feel that article was?
friend i spent 12 years in a low income AA community and your assertion in the article is that there are no issues there.
if so why did you pay me so well for so long to fix them?
here is what i learned about the area i served----
1 in 10 young men AA are in jail
30% of all AA males spend time in jail during their lifetime
82% have high school diplomas but where i served were reading at 6th grade level
50% of all AIDS cases are AA
50% of the case loads in the AA community i served required MHS or SA services.
btw trade programs in that community go begging
signed
retired and at peace

I've never heard of some of these, and agree with others. However, number 5 and number 8 are not myths. Where affirmative action does help white women and certain other minorities, it does unfairly benefit blacks. The "points" system often awards more points to black kids, and actually subtracts them from Asians. Poor, white, young men are also severely hurt by affirmative action. Number 8 (crime rate) isn't a myth; you can try to explain why the crime rate is higher in the black community, but it's certainly not a myth.
There is a little word dancing going on in that article. Black males only comprise 4% of all college attendees, the lowest of any demographic. Not only that, of those enrolled, they have the lowest graduation rate of any demographic. As far as females of all races attending and graduating higher education more - that is true but the gap is much larger between black males and females than any other race.
I notice they didn't address the most troubling statistic of the black community: 73% of all black children are born out-of-wedlock.

Let's work on reading comprehension here:
Quote:
While the majority of poor people in America are Black, the majority of Black people are NOT poor. Of the 40 million-plus Blacks in this nation, 8.1 million have incomes below the poverty line.
Now, what we do with our money is another story… 3 Black people abuse the Welfare system and are swelling it beyond capacity.
False. First, the actual number of Black families on Welfare has been decreasing since the early 1970’s, when 46% of the recipients were Black. By the end of the 20th century, that number was down to 39%, as compared to 38% whites who were non-Hispanic. If the comparison were strictly based on race without ethnic identification, whites clearly outnumber Blacks on the Welfare rolls.
39% of the Welfare recipients are black, not 39% of black households are on welfare. As mentioned above, about 20% of black households are below the poverty line (vs 15% of all Americans. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/14/us...pagewanted=all)
