MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — It's finally opening day for a Tennessee mosque after opponents waged a two-year court battle trying to stop it.

Leaders of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro say they intend to hold midday prayers in the new building Friday.

Construction was nearly halted in May when a state court ruled the public didn't get enough notice that the center was planned. Last month, a federal judge granted the mosque's request for an emergency order that would open the building in time for the holy month of Ramadan, which is still under way.
After long fight, opening day for Tenn. mosque » Knoxville News Sentinel

Good for them.

Joplin Mosque that was burned down has already raised $290K in three days.

I gave them $50 here: http://www.indiegogo.com/joplinmosqueofficial Send them a few bucks if you can.

It's a great way to demoralize these right wing bigots.

I don't have a problem with this mosque like I have a problem with the "victory" mosque. I'm not sure it will last thought, especially after what happened in Joplin. It's sad that some people in Tennessee will allow the construction of an endless line of christian churches but fight one mosque.

It's fine to have a problem that. Fine to protest, fine to write letters, fine to lobby their leaders, etc.

The question is, are you wanting to use government to compel citizens not to use "Victory" on a Mosque when and where they wish?

If you know anything about the values this country was founded on, the answer should be.....Hell no!

Most unfortunate. Hopefully they'll figure out a way to legally close the place.

What bizarre creatures we Americans have become, shunning the gentle hand of Christianity, and inviting the brutal savagery of Islam.

Not sure if you're trolling.

Yes, Islam is truly a monstrous creed. Imagine, a religion that demands that women remain subservient to men, that criminalizes homosexuality, that would ban abortion and contraception, and that treats atheism and apostasy as mortal threats.

We sure don't need anything like that in this country.

What do you think your legal angle will be? Are you sure you are in the right country? We have freedom of religion here in the USA.

Yes and Islam is occupying 7 Christian countries against the will of their citizens.

Unlike the USA of course, run by Christians, we never meddle in the affairs of other countries.
