It was actually around $835 billion spent on Medicare/Medicaid. I find that number interesting because the current GOP talking point is that Obama cut Medicare by $716 billion. I find the actually Medicare spending and GOP talking point not matching up.

That's because $716 billion cut is a projection over a time period cut from an already existing baseline projection.

Also, that comes out to $17,395 per Medicare/Medicaid subscriber as 48 million Americans are enrolled in the programs as of 2010 according to wikipedia. I thought Single payer was going to magically lower costs?

It is no secret that Americans are idiots... that they can't even handle Medicare, much less have a larger plan that covers all at a lower cost.

Now, your perceptions and assumptions aside, your math is amusing. I thought you were majoring in Statistics?
