Americans would shell out as much as $5,700 more a year if the Bush tax cuts are allowed to expire at the end of 2012, according to a new analysis that highlights the perils and political consequences of the nation's fiscal cliff.

Connecticut residents would get rocked the worst, with an additional cost of $5,783 a year while New Yorkers would get hit $5,542 on average, the study from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation states.

Mississippi residents get the least impact, at $1,310 on average, but 29 of the 50 states will see taxpayers get hit at least $2,000.

One would think in viewing the shape the nation is in, that we would all willingly and joyfully pay more in taxes.

If it would end this awful rolling recession, why not?

The problem is that no one trust the Congress to be right or fair about anything. They are all about rewarding friends and punishing enemies.

If spending isn't cut, and taxes don't go up (and yeah, we should let the Bush tax cuts for all to expire), then we are going to cost you and me our country.

Fair enough?

On a side note, its not just the Bush tax cuts anymore, its everyone in Washington's tax cuts.

How about we just let the tax cuts expire in the states that vote for Obama?

I'm responsible with my money, so giving an irresponsible government more money is not something I would do willingly. I don't want to send any extra tax dollars for huge GSA parties, 30 free cell phones for one person, etc.

If the government would drastically improve the way the handle money, I would feel much better about paying taxes.

In the meantime, I help my fellow Americans by giving money to good charities that really help people and don't have massive overheads or waste.

I know people that would lose their homes and end up in bankruptcy if they lost that much of their income.

Then they shouldn't have bought a house they couldn't afford.

Instead of paying 35% of your income on your mortgage, should have gone to 25% or lower.

Not my problem that people overextended themselves. And if you're dumb enough to bet your 20 or 30 year mortgage on what's supposed to be temporary tax cuts, you get what you deserve.

Go rent an apartment.

I will happily give the government more money when they prove they are responsible with the money they already receive.
As it is, there is so much fraud and waste, I can't in good conscience ask anyone to send them more money to burn.
