For the most part the first generations of immigrants from any country were treated like scum who didn't know the language, and who only wanted to bring in their own customs. Even the Irish were treated badly although they spoke English. But after a generation or two, their kids sounded just like any other US born kids and they were absorbed into the nation. The customs they brough in were cherished as well, - think about Annhouser, Bush and Miller for example, all German. Same will happen with the latino immigrants. Their kids speak English with American accents.
