3 of them study like crazy (the work REALLY hard - studying constantly - they put in actual work) and earn straight A's through the semester. Some of them are average and earn B's. 5 earn C's and D's for slacking. 10 earn F's for doing absolutely nothing.
Suppose we take an average of all of the grades so that everyone gets a C minus.
Socialism. This is what liberals want.
This analogy is precisely the logic liberals apply to "wealth redistribution". A person works really hard only to have their dollars sucked away through government waste. Socialism destroys societies and provides no basis for progress.

No thanks.
I am liberal I don't want that, so your whole thread is a fail since you say that Liberals want grade distribution. Stop generalizing. Do you even know a liberal?
In more concrete terms I propose to replace our bloated tax system with a simple 10% on all income. Or, 10% federal tax on all goods and services (Fair Tax).

10% applied to everyone is fair share.
Do you agree with this?
You have hijacked your own thread. There is medication for ADD.
I don't think that's what they want. No, they want the straight A students to make the grades and later the money to redistribute to those that would rather not work, so that we all end up kind mediocre with no one rich and everyone kind of poor.

That scenario happens in classrooms all across America every day; it's called group projects. There are schools were teachers who don't use it get a black mark on their evaluations. I refused because I did not and do not like the lesson it teaches kids. Invariably the hard working kids get tired of doing all the work, the smart kids do the bare minimum, the average kids only do what the others specifically tell them to, some do nothing, and then there are the ones that, not only don't do their share, but actually prevent the others from doing their work. In the end all are frustrated and while it does benefit some of the lower kids, in my opinion, it comes at too great of a cost for the others.

Logic fail. Good grades do not equal rich. There is a correlation but no cause and effect relationship.
Actually based on the many posts here what the liberal leaning group would like is.
Employee A with 6 years of college works his way up the ladder and is a CEO 20 years later should have his salary determined based on what those at the bottom feel is fair. His achievments, his accomplishments, what he has done to build the company are not a factor. The only factor is those at the bottom earn an average of say 60g a year and he is making 1 million a year.
He owns responsibility for 10,000 employees. A billion in assets and somehow those at the bottom feel like they understand what the CEO is worth. The decisions made to move a corporation ahead they all know.
I am not for big bonuses especially paid to people who have failed the company. Nor am I for carrying dead weight slackers who show up and do the absolute minimum. Anyone who works in a factory knows 2 out of 5 are going to be slackers. All day every day.
Class warfare like all ignorance has no limits.

It isn't that I don't understand these dynamics (had a lot of group projects in college) but on the other hand it doesn't serve your students well considering that their future jobs or careers most scientific or technological projects are inherently collaborative efforts. It is also a great way for kids to learn how not to establish rules within peers. Perhaps instead of failing your students in that regard a little innovative teaching where each students contribution to the group is included in the grading process.
