Another sad commentary on the RWNJ's around us, so long as the Tea Party allows crazies such as the man in their group they will continue to be discounted as crackpots.

That statement has a big red target painted on it. I'll refrain from posting what would have been an equally sarcastic response.

I see that you don't think that all the regulations government has made the past 3 years have hurt at all. You don't think that EPA regulations have contributed at all to the rising price of food. Maybe you need to take a look at that kind of thing.

Today a man who owns a welding company told me about the rising costs of insurance caused by regulations from various government agencies and he is not happy at all with some of the equipment he has to buy and the cost of insurance from government regulation.

Of course, you are right about why governments were founded but very wrong about the necessity for the expanding size these days.

But then you people talk about wanting a strong defense even though that's the main reason why we have to have such high taxes. CUT THE FREAKING DEFENSE BUDGET IF YOU WANT TO HAVE LOWER TAXES AND LESS DEFICIT SPENDING.

And if you people actually cared about government control, you'd rally against the anti-abortion/bc and pro-drug war morons in your party.

Plus, the TEA Party is a joke because it didn't exist until after Obama was inagurated, clearly in response to a black man becoming president and not in response to the LOWEST TAXES IN DECADES that we currently enjoy.

Plus, look at those signs at TEA Party rallies:

And plus, the whole Birtherism movement is closely tied to the TEA Party...and anyone who supports Birtherism is automatically someone I am going to laugh at.
The reason the Tea Party came into existence was not the color of Obama's skin but his policies:
1. Obamacare
2. quid pro quo stimulus and debilitating deficits
3. Cap and Trade taxation and other government control over the people
4. apologizing for America

Every grass roots movement has a few people out of the mainstream. That doesn't mean that the other 99.9% believe what they believe.

What country do you live in? Have you ever even heard of the first amendment? There really is no group that represents the Tea Party anyway. It is a grassroots organization, different from community to community.

Wackadoodle Tea Partier moment:

I heard this on the news a long time ago--like two years ago--and it's stuck in my memory since the day I heard this. Here's the dialogue as I remember it below:

Reporter: I'm here in Fair Town, USA and in the middle of a large gathering of a movement called the Tea Party movement. It stand for Tax Enough Already and I've decided to come out here and talk to some of these people involved in this protest movement and find out what some of their concerns are.

(she goes up to a person and asks a question)

Reporter: So what's your name, where are you from, and why are you here among this gathering today.

Tea Partier: I'm from Fair Town, USA and my name is Suzy Q and I'm here today because I'm fed up with the federal government always controlling our lives.

Reporter: And how specifically does the federal government control our lives...your life?

Tea Partier (Suzy): Through taxes. We have to pay 95% of our income to the federal government and there's just nothing hardly left over and we're here today because we're sick of it. We're being taxed to death and we don't get anything for the money we pay into the system.

Reporter: Well, thank you Suzy for sharing your thoughts with me today. (goes up to another Tea Party member in the crowd) Hello, I'm trying to figure out what the Tea Party's all about, can you speak with me and tell me why you're here at this gathering today?

Tea Partier 2: Yes, thank you. I'm here today because I'm taxed to death...all these fine folks here are taxed to death...and we're telling the government that we're not going to take it anymore.

Reporter: Taxed to death, huh? That's kind of extreme, don't you think...I mean, you're here right now and you look fine.

Tea Partier 2: Well, you ought to see my tax return and all the money that comes out of my paycheck each week. It ain't right and we're not going to take it.

Reporter: Don't you think taxation helps the country out...I mean, don't they say that there's nothing certain in life but death and taxes...haven't Americans always complained about taxes?

Tea Partier 2: Well, it does, but it's gotten out of hand. It hasn't always been like this...look, I know history, okay. I know it wasn't always like it is now. I know history and that's why we're here today. We want our government to get back to the fundamentals that this country was founded on. I know history and I know the Constitution and it says "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" and the federal government is taking that away from us. We need to get back to what the Constitution says. [emphasis added]

Reporter: Oh, well thank you for your time and good luck to you.

(goes up to another wackadoodle Tea Partier).

Some...but not after a long argument about what those things *mean*. I mean, I'm a liberal,

1. Believing in God

> Yes

2. Upholding the US constitution

>Yes, but I subscribe to the pragmatic school of constitutional interpretation (most Tea Partiers don't)

3. Wanting a strong defense

>Yes.

4. Wanting the government to stop deficit spending that is so large that no amount of taxes on the rich could pay for it.

> I oppose deficit spending in times of plenty and allow for it in bad economic times. It will take some time to get to both places without triggering another great recession, though.

5. Wanting to limit the control our government has over us

> I am a civil libertarian. Most liberals are.

I don't think Reagan and Clinton ever had a group of people holding the country hostage. The debt cieling was always a foregone conclusion. Other than Obama giving tea party terrorists everything they wanted and getting nothing in return, how much more could he have compromised? They wanted cuts to go with raising the debt ceiling. The deal was more than fair of $2.5 cuts to $1 raised. Tea partiers came out afterwards and said they wouldn't even accept $10 cut for every $1 raised. At that point, how do you even negotiate and compromise with people who aren't negotiating and compromising back.

the debt ceiling is a polite fiction that should be thrown on the trash-heap of good ideas that don't work.
