Well that's the thing...some feminists blast the men for being such pigs, but it's not as one sided as you think. Some feminists also think it's 'empowering.' Me, I think it is what it is. The women don't think highly or respect the men. The men may think of women as sex objects, but they might still think of them as people too. That's what some women don't realise. While some men are like that, just thinking of someone as as a sex object doesn't mean you don't think of them as human.
edit: also you have to distinguish between regular visitors and guys who go there on occasion. Because plenty of guys have at least been once. I doubt most women would disqualify 60% of the male population just because they visited a club during a Buck's party or something.
I don't know what feminists say and don't pay much attention to them. I say it's funny how you see the men as respecting the strippers but not the other way around. typical.
There is no 'respect' needed either way, it's a strip club as long as they aren't groping and verbally the abusing the strippers. They go in and get a service and pay for it, the end. It's like assuming b/c the waitress is really nice to you, she wants to date you. No. She wants to get a tip and do her job.
I never said anything about regular women not being attracted to men who go to strip clubs.
Pretty much, obviously it's not exactly the same but it's the same principle. Selling something that represents sex (e.g. your bare breasts) and turning a male on for money. Using your body/sexuality to MAKE MONEY. Not a hard concept to grasp.
The premise of strip club culture is fairly basic. Women make money by feigning interest in the men who are watching them. It isn't so much the nudity, as it is the attention that intrigues most men. While they're at the stage, men fantasize that the woman in front of them is actually interested in him as an individual, no matter how old or physically unattractive he may be. Some men become trapped in the fantasy, and end up with a lot of emotional and economic pain. Others just enjoy the fantasy once in a while, then go home.
For most of the strippers themselves, working in the clubs is generally not an easy gig. They work as independent contractors, and are required to pay the club a fee. Sometimes, the fee is barely covered by the shift's earnings. The club owners frequently attempt to take advantage of the dancers, both economically and sexually. The younger and more attractive dancers usually do fairly well. The older and more average looking ones tend to get less attention, and occasionally compensate by providing a more extreme personal (lap) dance.
Some dancers are very nice people, others are a quite narcissistic and condescending. Some customers are pleasant, and others are jerks. Like anything else in the sex-services industry, things go a lot better for everyone involved if there is a basic level of mutual respect.

I don't respect the strippers. Are you joking? Let's see. I'm going to strip clubs in LA for bachelor parties and am also friends with girls at top law schools ... and I respect strippers? NOT.
I will say that the only things that are interesting about them are:
1) trying to figure them out and what their life off the catwalk/runway is like, and
2) the varying shapes and proportions of their boobs, real or not
Doll, sometimes you think men aren't that multidimensional and tend toward the banal. That's not always the case.

are you guys just not reading or what? go back and read trimac's post no. 77. I didn't say that in the first place. I actually said it's not about respect at all.
no I don't think they are all so multidimensional as they claim to be. It's always the same when you get down to brass tax where women are concerned. looks trump everything else.
I have only been to a strip club twice and those times were over a decade ago. I did not like it at all. Don't get me wrong. I like looking at good lookig women as much as the next guy but I just felt completely dirty after being in a strip club.
Let's not be in denial. Looks ARE the foot in the door for BOTH genders. Being compatible enables it to succeed.
