Go back to reading your pablum.
This is just pure comic gold, nothing more, nothing less. This has nothing to do with Obama or this election, all this is about is Santorum basically told an audience of people that they are all stupid and smart people want to tell them what to do.

So one of two things, either he insulted an audience or he was stating a true fact that no smart person would ever be a Republican....though the irony is the number of smart people that are politicians in the Republican party are the ones telling their base what to do.

So really, Santorum might of just blown everyone's mind with something existential.

For those with a comprehension disability he's referring to the liberal elite.

Note how the "because" qualifier is absent from these articles destroying the context of the statement.

Edit---------

Even the topic is a complete fabrication.........

And for those of you (ie, you) with comprehension disability (or, desperately trying to change the subject syndrome), most of us are interested in the fact that he says that neither the 'elite' (which is nothing but conserva-speak for anyone with a scary college/university education, where they teach you all that stuff conservatives wish wouldn't get taught -- basic science, scary stuff like that) nor the smart will ever vote for Santorum's base.

But go ahead and peddle the idea that why the winner of 11 GOP primaries appeals to people who aren't smart makes it all better!

Hey, thanks for clearing that up! LOL

So you're saying that only the people in Universities and Colleges are smart?

The other question I have for you is why have you fabricated a statement Mr. Santorum has not made?

I'm not even remotely behind, here is the full quote without any creative editing like the OP did:

Quote:
We will never have the media on our side, ever, in this country. We will never have the elite smart people on our side, because they believe they should have the power to tell you what to do. So our colleges and universities, they’re not going to be on our side.
So would you agree he is referencing those exclusively in Academia?

With Rick Santorum, it can be quite hard to tell what he is referencing, as the man really does not make much sense to alot of people.

It would appear he is referencing those in academia, but he follows his remarks about academia with "they believe they should have the power to tell you what to do", which is a typically vague and baseless accusation from Santorum, and patently absurd when taken at face value. Same goes for his remarks on the media, which is now consolidated into a group of 6 major owners, and most all of them are conservative. The few 'liberal" outlets are there to make money, as half of this country is not yet completely clueless and choose to watch this. The rest are either 'neutral" or conservative, making up the majority of the media.

The term "elite" is often used to classify people who think their **** smells better than everyone else's because they have a degree on the wall. It wouldn't include everyone that has a degree on the wall. Typically they have lived sheltered lives raised as privileged kids and have spent a great deal of time in school. They lack common knowledge and sense of the real world and are of the belief they are absolutely right no matter how wrong they could be.

If we can agree he is referencing those in academia unless you have the absurd position that only people in academia are the smart ones we can conclude he was not referring to all smart people but instead a specific segment.
