Heh, the Japanese had one of their pokemon that pretty much looked somewhere between a monkey and a guy in exaggerated blackface.

They banned the episode here in the US until it was re-done making the character purple instead of black.

I will at least give south america props for their weather girls.

That's true but the U.S did have a civil rights movement. This hasn't happened in various countries that could also use some sort of movement to reduce discrimination and racist entertainment.

An example of protests against this stuff in Peru.

In a telephone interview with Peruvian attorney, professor and human rights activist Wilfredo Ardito-Vega, he said that these kinds of programs are “really dangerous, because they deepen negative stereotypes against Native and Black peoples in Peru, presenting Andean women as dirty and ignorant and African men as delinquents. This media is the worst type of hatred against non-white people” he added.

Well one day I assume that more people will start to wonder about the REAL reason that a country like Argentina is now considered "white" despite the fact that there was (is) an indigenous population as well as African slaves that were imported to that country.
