Why isn't sexual orientation a protected minority when it comes to fair housing and employment? With rampant homophobia, prejudice, and anti-gay discrimination in this country I think gays and lesbians deserve to be included.

Is that what we are to become as a nation, a bunch of scattered "protected classes" of victims?

Any time I feel someone does not agree with my lifestyle choices, I should run to government and get special protractions, quotas, and laws created, to force everyone to agree with me, or they should be punished?

Because too many people think homosexuality is a choice. Never mind the fact that religion really is a choice but still enjoys many specific protections.

So you think we should be able to discriminate against Christians, then?

No response for why we should protect you from discrimination, but not why we shouldn't protect people you dislike from discrimination? Why am I not surprised...

The legal term is Suspect Class.

And it is -- in certain states, under state law. But it is not under federal law (except under a few jurisdictions, though this is subject to ultimate review by higher courts).

It is probably just a matter of time until it is.

Because most homosexuals keep who they are a closely guarded secret. So discrimination against them is seldom experienced. If two homosexuals rent a 1 bedroom apartment, they can simply get two beds for the bedroom to keep suspicions down.

In thinking back to all of my job interviews over the decades, I can't remember a single one where I was asked any questions about my sexual orientation or marital status. I guess my employers were naive for only asking about my knowledge, skills, and abilities.
