I'd say Nader votes in Florida made a BIG difference.

In exit polls almost 40% of Nader's voters said they would have voted for Gore had Nader not been on the ballet. About half of them wouldn't have voted for anyone and the rest would have gone to Bush, but bottom line, Gore would have won Florida with them, and thus the election.

How do you know that more non-voters wouldn't have voted for Bush knowing there wasn't a "spoiler" in the race, instead of sitting on their duff? Have you accounted for other factors that would adjust if there was no third party candidate? Also, was that poll taken before or after the election? Might have made a difference if people say stuff like that in hindsight.
There is no such thing as "taking" or "stealing" votes. It's a tin foil hat theory, nothing more.

Of course it isn't taking or stealing, no one said it was. It does however impact the elction results.
