Obama always talks about how he can take credit for increasing domestic oil and gas production but Obama's administration put into effect yet another new regulation making it harder for America's oil and gas companies to increase production.

Govn Romney is right on the permits on federal land, Obama leases DOWN 42%. Oil and gas production on federal land, production is down. Within the industry Obama took away the drilling industries AND decreasing production.

Obama is NOT looking for more gas production, Obama is looking for more wind and solar with money taken from oil and gas.

And gas prices will continue to increase.

Obama has focused on the goal of driving up energy prices with the idea of "weaning" America off fossil fuels. He has succeeded in driving up gas prices, all right, and because his green energy has failed Obama is not reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Obama's policies will be seen to have curtailed domestic production and placed America's energy security in jeopardy.

This is what Obama has done causing an increase in gas:

- reversed commitments to allow development of offshore Atlantic reserves, and failed to expand drilling on Alaska.

- shut down Gulf of Mexico deep-water drilling entirely for six months and slowed new permitting there indefinitely

- vetoed the Keystone XL pipeline, shutting off major supplies of oil from Canada

- proposed $44 billion of new taxes on oil and gas companies also wasted $90 billion on unproductive solar and wind companies such as Solyndra

- driven up the cost of electricity by mandating and subsidizing wind and solar generation instead of promoting use of natural gas (and coal)

If Obama gets re-elected get ready for $10 / gallon gas prices.

the sooner we become independent of fossil fuels the better it will be for everyone, especially future generations.

Was oil production down slightly from previous yes, but most attribute it to the debacle of BP, not the administration reducing permits. So while technically correct, Romney was misleading in the sense that oil production went down because the administration which isn't the case. Tell the big wigs over in London not to mess up our lands.

As far as actual prices, demand is high, OPEC slows production, prices go up. Outside of suspending the gas tax, not much uncle sam can do. Any new american production would be years down the pipeline and definitely not an immediate effect outside of maybe stocks for a barrel of crude. Even with the feds suspending the gas tax, it would still be high because all 50 states or at least most of them have a state gas tax tacked on ppg.

Gas prices are not this high right now because of oil production. Granted, the future needs addressed now but there are tankers full of oil just sitting with nowhere to go.

Gas is this high right now because of the Fed's actions in monetizing the debt.

But Obama said his policies are designed to save you 1/2 of what your spending, meaning you'll only spend $8,000 a year, vs $16,000 a year that you were paying for gas.

Who the hells paying $16K a year for gas, i'll never know..

Lie.. permits on public land averaged 5,000 a year under Bush, down to 4,000 a year under Obama

About the only influence any president has over gas prices is to instruct the NHTSA to review CAFE standards. And, gee, what happened last August - why, CAFE standards were reviewed and reset by the NHTSA.
