What do you think your fair share of taxes paid to Federal, State & Local governments combined, should be?

After you calculate it, what percent of your gross income do you actually pay a year in Taxes and fees.
Remember employees, you are taxed on your gross pay to get to your net pay and then your net pay, is again taxed.

In a Progressive taxing bracket, if you were forced to work for more than half the year, just to pay your taxes, would you be as productive as you could be, to make the same living?

The only fair tax is a consumption tax. You consume more, you pay more.

We need to get rid of all these government "services". In NJ for example, why do we need to pay the municipal employees 6 figures a year just for pushing paper? And this is per town, not county. Why do we need a superintendent for every town and all he/she does is to tell you "no" because rules is rules.

After we get rid of all the services, the consumption tax can be about 2 to 3%.

1% go to town
1% go to county
0.75% go to state
0.25% go to federal (they only need to provide defense)

since taxes are extracted through coersion (violent force), the term fair does not belong in the same sentence.

No one can answer what "fair share" really means... NO ONE!

If that's the case, then why make a thread if you just wanna kill it 4 or 5 posts later?

If there is no such thing, then I guess you have your answer.

Sure you can - but many people don't want fair, they want special preferences.

You can have a flat equal fee per person. $100 per citizen.

You can have an equal income percentage - 20% of all income for everyone.

You can have an equal consumption tax - 10% sales tax on all consumed items.

No loopholes, no behavorial adjustments....

The problem is, people want loopholes and special benefits.

No people want loophole. The so called "loophole" is created by the politicians for specific purpose. For example, green job is one of them.

Should be one, flat tax rate for every person.

If I'm paying 35% on my taxes, so should warren buffet, that's my fair share.

Sounds fair, but, there are people that are so grossly underpaid by their employers that they don't have a living wage to start with. They cannot afford to give 35% of it up.

A fair share should b a "Flat tax" no loopholes, no deductions, or a "Consumption tax" that way you are taxed on your spending an not on your income.

A flat tax of not more than 20% in my opinion would be reasonable.

Cut the government, government workers should be paid no more than the private sector, their pensions are theirs let them pay for their own pensions. Their wages are paid by public tax money, then it is public tax money that goes into their pensions, what a scam that is.
