If they were, Romney would have won just about every state except DC and Hawaii.

They're not a monolithic voting block bent on repressing women, minorities, and LGBT people.

Sure --- but most of them must be or the popular vote wouldn't have been almost 50:50.

The obvious is that Obama did not do all the well for an incumbent.

Can we stop pretending that all straight white males are Republicans?
You forgot to put "old" in there.

I agree... the numbers speak for themselves.

I've even talked to a few acquaintances I'd never suspect would vote for a Republican, but they said so, and they are basicly "white males". For whatever reason, Romney grabbed the attention of some of them due to general disgust with the economy.

While we're at it, can we also stop pretending that all Democrats are unemployed welfare recipients?

So straight white males are the only people who are "disgusted with the economy"?

I think the reason is much more simple: Tribalism, coupled with resentment.

No, because doing so would force the Republicans to take responsibility for their ideological and moral bankruptcy.

Obviously, the majority do. That's not really the point I'm trying to make. Even so, probably at least 30 percent of them voted for Obama, which is most likely a higher percentage than any other minority group voted for Republicans.

The main point I'm trying to make is that I find it insulting to straight white males that there's some implication of a racewar going on, with the Republicans representing straight white males and the Democrats representing everyone else. It's a lot more complicated than that.

Well shucks and here I was looking around for a gay woman that is black, asian and latino so I can more efficiently maximize my bigotry.

Realizing I don't have to be evil just because I'm a white guy is sure going to turn out to be a time saver!

That's racist.
