With the legalization of recreational Marijuana in two states, the black market for the drugs will probably suffer greatly. Although I wouldn't begin to know how much of it is imported, one has to think if you can attain it legally somewhere, it would behoove someone to take that route as opposed importing it across international borders. I would imagine its much easier to smuggle it domestically than internationally. Also, I would imagine that every county in every state that borders these two states are licking their chops at increased revenue do to drug bust.

Children will be safer as the violence which overwhelmingly comes from the gangs using force to control and hide their illegal activities will drop. Minors will not be used to deliver the marijuana since their value, as a minor, was in not going to jail. The consumer will also have more choices and prices will go down. Gotta love the free market.
The revenue from taxes will help the state.

The cartels are very happy with the fact that they can now legally have their drugs sold in the USA. It will only lead to increased profits and power for them because they still control the cocaine supply routes and giant meth labs.

Wait... what?
We aren't talking about coke or meth to begin with, but how will their profits increase at all? Same exact thing happened with alcohol when prohibition ended in the 30s; gangs lost the monopoly on alcohol and went downhill instantly.
Safe access to a drug will always be preferred over sketchy dealers and possibly unsafe drugs.

I don't see it that way. From my experience, gang violence is a byproduct of narcotics, not marijuana. I personally, have never known a marijuana dealer with an ounce or less to actually carry a gun. A crack of heroin dealer? Different story.

IMO legalizing marijuana will have little if any effect on the black market. Legalizing it doesn't mean that it will no longer be sold illegally--just as prescription drugs aren't. IMO from what I can tell with anyone selling it from Adolescents, to poor young adults to the college kid who sells it for extra money; I'm willing to bet that most of them will not go through the proper channels of being properly registered, licensed and taxed; they will just continue to sell it the same way that always have.

Actually it will make the cartels irrelevant in the US, which is a good thing for our country. I don't know why we don't make it legal and then tax it. Better to make a profit than spend money to stop something that isn't going to go away. I personally have weed on the same table as cigarettes and alcohol.

Drugs are drugs.

If it isn't beer or SIGarettes...it should be illegal.

I'll also say the BATF and FBI doesn't give a rats ass whether it's legal here, or it's legal there.

NICS and a 4473 is FEDERAL law you dumb s***s!
