While the rest of America suffers, the DC area has seen economic growth at the expense of taxpayers across the country. People in the DC area are wealthy due to wealth transfers from other parts of the nation via taxation, absurd levels of federal spending, lobbying, etc: in short, they are an economic burden on this country. Is it time for the DC area to endure their fair share of the recession via cuts from the fiscal cliff? I know cuts will impact people all across the country, but the DC area will also finally share in the suffering if these cuts go through, particularly contractors.

There is a large portion of DC, particularly in the southeast, that is decidedly NOT wealthy and have seen the economy of their area decline. Meanwhile, many of the wealthiest DC citizens live in the suburbs in VA. How would you deal with that?
Oh please..How about millionaires and billionaires endure their fair share all across the country? Until DC citizens get actual representation (vote) in congress, they shouldn't have to pay any federal taxes in my opinion.
Federal workers do far more important work than people in the private sector and for only half of the pay. Lay off of federal workers. They are suffering as much as if not more than private sector folks.

However, we just voted 8 days ago to continue the transfer of money from poor and middle class of flyover land to the rich of DC-land, so undoubtedly that is what we will get.
