Yes we do. Now, where do we cut, and how much do we increase?
I say defense should be cut in half, as well as ending oil subsidies, along with reforms in programs like food stamps and other programs.
I say that we should return to the Bush era tax rates for every American, and that we increase capital gains taxes to 28%.
I say that we should increase the social security retirement age, means test pay out, and raise the medicare eligibility age to 68-70 years old because after all, doesn't Obamacare prevent discrimination on pre-existing condition?

That sounds pretty good to me. I would also try to increase more domestic energy production of all kids here at home, also.

I'll take it.
While I am a strong advocate of the military, I believe that a reduced budget will require us to better utilize our resources.

Increase it how? With subsidies for that energy? With increased government spending? Where are you going to get that extra money from? Is it going to keep the deficit from being further cut?
We need to let the free market decide out energy future, not Washington. Washington can dictate how much of that energy should come from domestic sources, becasue in my opinion that falls into national security, but beyond that, they should stay out of the ballgame.

Opening up more areas for drilling. Deregulate refinery operations. Allow the Keystone pipeline. Keep the solar and wind tax breaks. Invest in a smart grid infrastructure. Back more loan guarantees for nuclear power. Keep funding R and D for alternative fuels/energy, conservation, and energy storage. I would do an all of the above energy strategy.
