It's the parents job to give their children whatever reasonable medical care they need. Who are you or the government to order them to a hospital if they think religion or herbs can help better than a doctor?

Yep like DFCS that kidnaps kids for money...

Not the governments business when it comes to parents and their kids health care. Some people believe in natural herbs or religion to heal.
When a parent is neglecting a child's healthcare, or else putting a child at risk for refusing treatement for their child, I believe the government not only has a right to intervene, it has a moral obligation to do so.

Oh, I dunno'.........

Maybe because the doctors ARE TRAINED PROFESSIONALS WHO HAVE THE ADVANTAGE OF YEARS OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE that some parent with a high school diploma (or less), who has read a book on medicinal herbs or who thinks praying to a Sky Daddy will heal their child from leukemia, has.

Jeeez........

OREGON CITY – When the trial of Dale and Shannon Hickman begins this week in Clackamas County, the curtain again rises on a familiar tragedy, one centered on the death of a child and on parents whose unwavering faith in divine healing may lead them to prison.

The Hickmans are members of the Followers of Christ, an Oregon City faith-healing church. The congregation has a long history of children dying from curable conditions because parents rejected medical care in favor of spiritual treatments.
Quote:
They are fourth couple prosecuted in the past two years by the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office for failing to seek adequate medical care for a child. In the previous cases, all but one defendant was convicted and sentenced to jail or prison.
Another faith-healing death of a child puts Oregon City parents on trial | OregonLive.com

ALL of these babies died from easily treatable diseases.

So, let me guess, Rebel - how do you feel about Roe v. Wade? Do you think a woman has the right to decide if she is going to terminate a pregnancy?

Marijuana treats some diseases yet these "medical professionals" won't give it to their patients along with other natural herbs and plants that work better than their conventional medicine. I don't agree with these parents tactics but I don't agree with being forced to take your child somewhere against your will either.Maybe if they are going to take the risk they should face the consequences if something happens to their child and she/he dies.

Unfortunately the child faces the biggest risk.

I have less problem with individuals who don't want traditional health care for themselves, although even then one can argue that it puts everyone at risk if some individuals choose not to vaccinate their children for serious communicable diseases, or do not seek medical treatment for themselves for communicable illnesses.

The same government that kills women and children with drones or starves them with embargos?

Somebody needs a new moral compass

To bad our founders didn't listen to Benjamin Rush.
Medical "tyranny" is health care under the previous control of corporations. Obamacare is a compromise with republicans, broadens the health care market while guaranteeing coverage, and is a wet kiss to the republican corporate base. So if you are a right-winger you have no complaint.

All part of the communist obama's plan. Bankrupt the country, have everyone dependent on the government to survive, then you have the easy path to communism...

Better not get sick after the new year, because you won't be happy with your bill.
Americans are about to take a huge paycut. Check out how much you paid in medical expenses at the end of 2013? That additional income will be syphoned direct to Uncle Sam thanks soley to Obama. All Americans will be poorer and the affects will ripple through every facet of our economy. Starting January 1st, we will witness the immediate impact of Obamacare on America, and yes, this is what Obama wants...all citizens under the care and control of the federal government.

Joe Biden spoke the truth when he whispered to Obama; "This is F*%#*ing big!"
