Atheists and gov't at it again. Stomping on rights of those who run a business the way they should be able to. Restaurant have discounts to those who brought in church bulletins. Atheist gets mad, as usual, and takes it to the gov't. Gov't of course, steps in, sides with atheist, forces business to change their practice.
More political correctness and gov't putting its nose where it doesnt belong.
Hey, I dont get the Sunday paper, shouldn't I still get discounts from groceries by just writing up my own coupons?
Or, I dont have the stupid grocery store key ring card. I should be able to use another stores key ring to get the discounts...right?
Atheism is not a religion. Its a belief. They claim to be against religion mostly, yet it sure seems to me they are trying to turn atheism into its own religion.
Believe in nothing, if that is your wish. But you atheists really need to back off and leave others alone. If you dont believe, fine, good for you. But get your nose out of everything else. You're offended or feel left out? So what! Ignore it then. Quit faking outrage or discrimination.
And this goes back also to businesses losing control and power to run their business how they chose, and the gov't taking more power.
So, you might (or might not) agree that discrimination on the basis of race is wrong. And that had to be forced onto some private businesses through government action. But discrimination on the basis of religious affiliation is somehow different and acceptable.
How so? This promotion is just like a business telling the consumer to bring in their ad, or coupon or whatever to get said discount. If you don't bring the ad, or coupon then you don't get the discount. It's pretty simple.
If I i have a business, and say hey you can get a discount if you bring your church bulletin in, then there should be nothing wrong with that. Its my business. No one is preventing you from going to a church and getting a bulletin to bring in. You can do that and get a discount OR dont do it and dont get a discount. Its that simple
Just like places that give kids or seniors discounts. Who in the decades that that has been going on, has whined about it? Not many thats for sure, if any. Leave it to atheists to make a stink of something like this.

Brilliant.
It isnt discrimination. ANYONE can walk into a church. ANYONE can attend. ANYONE can go and grab a bulletin. GO GET ONE IF YOU WANT THE DISCOUNT. If you're too scared or frightened to go into a church and ask for one.....OH FRIGGIN WELL! Looks like you shouldnt get the discount then.
I think it they need to ignore it and let the agncy take them to court. They can get free council and IMO win. hey are not part of governqamtn and separation doesn't aply. mnay discounts to different groups. This wouold effect ladies nites and lord knows what else.
You're more outraged than the restaurant owners and their lawyer.
"Despite losing their ability to discern the recipients of intended discounts, owners Sharon and David Prudhomme seem to be content with the settlement. Sharon claims that, from the beginning, the effort was a marketing ploy to bring in customers during slow times — particularly following church services on Sundays.
Randall Wenger, an attorney with the Independence Law Center who represents the Prudhomme family, heralded the decision as proof that society should not “treat religion as poison,” seeing as the ad is still permitted so long as it includes all peoples of faith.
“The settlement basically says we’ll continue to do what we’re doing,” Wenger said in an exchange with Lancaster Online."
The government* requirement is that the restaurant accept any brochure a customer brings in having to do with religion.
* I hate it when people use "government" indiscriminately and without context. In this case, it was the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, i.e., a state government body.
By the way, if a restaurant decided to award a 10% discount to all black, and only black, customers, I can imagine the howls that would result in this forum. Wouldn't that be a business exercising its freedom?
Look it up sometime so you'll understand what it is.

EVERYONE who wants to attend those churches already does.

If your religion is so threatened that it has to resort to incentives to try to lure adherents, then maybe its old threats of eternal torment just don't scare enough folks these days.

You seem more upset with the decision than the owners of the restaurant.

They did not have to agree to a binding, enforceable legal agreement, but they did. As the article states, it had nothing to do with religion. The sole purpose of providing this discount was "to bring in customers during slow times — particularly following church services on Sundays."
Your fake outrage over something that has nothing to do with religion demonstrates your own prejudice and hypocrisy.
