EVERYONE pushing this fair share mantra understands that it's meaningless to fixing the debt/economy. The goal isn't to actually fix anything as much as it is about class warfare, and punishing success. Social justice requires equal misery.
Yes, $82 billion of it is coming from the expiring Bush cuts.
But there's no detail for the other $80 billion.

What are they going to do..pass it so we can see what's in it again ?

We can pretend that we’re having something resembling a rational national debate, with members of both parties saying reasonable things given their views about how policy works. But what you have is a lot of false equivalence, claiming both sides are at fault.

What we really have is Democrats trying to solve the long-term fiscal problems of the nation while also trying to preserve long-standing popular programs, like Medicare. Then, you have the other side, who clearly seems to care about only one thing, preserving the 80 year low of taxes on the wealthiest and willing to wreck the credit rating of the nation to do it. We know that they really don't care about deficits because when they were in power they increased them and they make no meaningful proposals to lower them. Just last month, their Presidential candidate was trying to make $3 trillion in tax cuts appear revenue neutral.

If the GOP House passed a resolution declaring the Earth flat, with all the Democrats voting no, the news would report, "Parties Differ on Shape of Earth," instead of one party is completely bonkers.

You actually know about the $80 billion (that republicans accepted out of President Obama's $1.5 Trillion plan submitted last year). You also know about $80 billion or so from letting Bush Tax Cuts expire this time for incomes above $250K. Where you fail is that what you read and what you heard, has you confused. And you never bothered to learn.

Oh man am I loving this. A straight question from the o.p. and an epic FAIL from the right to respond. Indeed, where is the GOP plan. Cut what? There isn't anything to cut, is there. If there was it would be pointed out in no uncertain terms. A big red bullseye would be painted on it. CUT HERE! But no... all we get is angry rhetoric about no tax hikes... ...

They're already going to be raised. If not now certainly in the near future. If they aren't raised then the only other option is to cut programs that I've paid into since 16.

All roads lead to the same place and just as it was stated in the Trustee's report postponing them only creates temporary comfort for a much larger hardship in the future than would be needed in real bona fide "shared" sacrifice.

Instead what you have is a bunch of people gloating as they dance around joyfully on train tracks.

You have an entire thread of Me Me Me's playing politics because of their horrid foresight.

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner says that there simply can’t be a deal without tax rates on the wealthiest going up. We can’t fix things by raising taxes on the strapped middle class. In simple terms—we can’t balance the budget with blood from a bunch of turnips. Republicans want to reduce the deficit with painful budget cuts. But even more than that, they want President Obama to be the one who has to name those painful cuts. Republicans won’t stab you in the chest. They’ll only stab you from behind so that while they’re doing it they can yell “Look out! Obama has a knife!”

Mitch McConnell has hinted at a few specifics that the Republicans want. The first thing you learn from them is why Republicans don’t want to tell you what they want to cut. McConnell wants to raise the eligibility age for Medicare to 67. Republicans spent the campaign attacking Obama for cutting Medicare! No wonder they want him to be the one to propose their plan to cut Medicare!
