That's exactly what Obama intends to do -- so expect much more of this. Obama is obviously no kind of leader, even the liberals admit he is not.

Those tax cuts that help the middle class aren't called "Bush tax cuts" for no reason -- Bush did show leadership obviously. Obama is going to let the fiscal cliff happen because he intends to blame the GOP instead of coming up with compromise solutions.

Why even have a president? He's just become some celebrity pop-star figurehead type. He's not working on solutions at all.

We should go over the cliff. Nothing proposed in Washington will cut the deficit quicker.

The Henry's are among the most productive, hard-working citizens: our doctors, attorneys, architects, and entrepreneurs, the owners and builders of cleaning companies, delis etc.

Though Obama brands them as rich, they're usually far from it. "Rich" means personal wealth, or net worth, not income. These HENRYs are already strapped by a combination of high income taxes. Their chance of accumulating the couple of million dollars needed to qualify as rich were virtually nil even before Obama took the stage.

Now, their prospects are dimmer than ever, courtesy of a new, laser-like proposal specially designed to zap the HENRYs. Most of the 5 million or so HENRYs are trapped in the notorious tax system, the Alternative Minimum Tax. In fact, the AMT might be dubbed "the HENRYs' tax," since it's targeted to skip the middle class, but aimed straight at the $250,000-to $500,000 crowd.

The HENRYs taxes will rise sharply, courtesy of Obama's laser like strike aimed straight at their wallets. The rich will once again get off the hook. The middle class is next.

HENRYs... for high earners, not rich yet.

Very successful households (double income couples, mostly), who are making $250,000 - $400,000 a year but don't have a whole lot in the way of assets — and may have big education debts.

The Henry's bear just about the heaviest tax burden of any income group and now Obama wants to tax them more. The heaviest tax burden but he falsely accuses them of not paying their fair share.

Their choice.
I guess you have missed out on the part of Obama's request that does away with Congress having any control over the debt. Yep, he wants to do what Harry Reid has been doing the past 4 years and just provide a permanent "credit card" for Old Barack. Go ahead and blame Boehner if that happens. Of course, I blame Boehner for where we are and where we are going unless he gets his back up and fights back this time as he sure didn't do in 2011 when he allowed all the crap to get started.

I really don't think Obama will take a chance of the cliff if allowed to take a run at it.

The worst part of all this is that nobody has ever said what "fair share" means. I don't know if it is 10%, 20%, maybe 50% or even 70%. I do know that when some people don't pay anything it appears that the fair share may well be nothing and how many people pay nothing and even get paid back for what they didn't have to pay.

I will be very happy to look at what progs want when someone tells me what "fair share" is, but they can't because they don't know.

I'm afraid you're right. Obama isn't taking any of this seriously and instead of spending cuts, he only proposed some even bigger spending plans along with some very hefty tax increases.

It's not as though the 2 million long-term unemployed were Republican voters anyhow -- so the Republicans have nothing to lose when they find themselves without a nice unemployment check from the government and instead have to scramble about looking for jobs or going without.

The so-called rich who have businesses will have to tighten their belts a bit which will mean they will have to lay off a few employees. The middle class as usual will suffer another hit, more will be pushed into poverty. Families will have to give up a few things like new shoes for the kids or dental braces.

And Obama can arrogantly pass the blame down because he stubbornly refused to compromise. He can beat his chest and declare himself the winner.

According to the US Constitution, they actually have never had control over it other than spending.
