This makes the 2014 mid-terms a bit more interesting. Lindsey Graham will be up for re-election, and there will be a special election to fill out the final two years of the seat DeMint currently holds.

It will be interesting see whether Haley appoints an interim placeholder, or someone who is going to want the seat for good.

DeMint resigns: Nikki Haley to pick successor - POLITICO.com
I would love to see Graham get successfully primaried. His stance on Benghazi is a single bright spot in an otherwise worthless career. What a RINO.

Good Riddance!

Tea freak Jim DeMint (R-SC) is quitting the Senate to head up the Heritage Foundation. Great, he’s leaving an organization that no longer functions to join one that really shouldn’t function. DeMint’s replacement will be appointed by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. So Republicans don’t have to worry about DeMint being replaced by anyone remotely sane.

Maybe Richard Mourdock can move to South Carolina.

I'm sure Club For Growth would be happy to get behind him again...

Yeah, then maybe we can raise the taxes on a few rich people, tell people we're addressing the deficit, and continue spending. We may even agree not to increase spending as much as originally planned and call it a spending cut to make it look good. It will be much easier once we get everyone to agree to let Mr. Obama bypass Congress and raise the debt limit as he pleases. Maybe we won't have to hear so much nagging about not having a budget.

I certainly think Demint has his flaws, but more of the same isn't helpful. we need someone willing to say no and call for a hard decision. I don't always agree with him but at least he's not going along to satisfy the rest of his peers.

Meh. It's South Carolina. That state has a history of firebrand politics dating back almost 200 years.

I always thought it was strange that Lindsey Graham has held on as long as he has down there. He always seemed too moderate for the Palmetto State

Since I'm mostly into fiscal conservatism and a strong defense, this is no big loss for me. I used to subscribe to his news letter and followed him fairly closely several years ago. I watched him NOT support some great fiscal conservatives because "in his opinion" they were not pro-life "enough". He can yack it up all he wants, but actions speak louder than words. To heck with him.

His "ilk?" Well, we know where that puts you, don't we? Another anti-American left wing bigot socialist who favors destroying America over preserving liberty for my children and grand children!

You people take it upon yourselves to decide the future of our country, which has given us more than any other system in the history of man. But you see Republicans, the Party of Lincoln, which freed the slaves, as greedy capitalists; people from whom you can steal, and redistribute the plunder to the non-productive socialist types who think the world owes them a living.

But Jim will be able to affect change in a new and powerful way in his new post, as President of Heritage. Sorry, chumps. You haven't gotten rid of him at all.

I hope the Republicans call Obama's bluff and walk away from negotiations on the so-called "fiscal cliff." Obama thinks they will be blamed. But, Obama is already to blame for this situation, and we aren't going to forget. The best thing that could happen for conservatives, and the country, would be to let Obama "own" it. And he surely will.

party on, dudes, because the massive printing is the beginning of the end, and you are running out of options.
We left San Diego in 1993 largely because of the Democrat controlled state government, that was over taxing and applying "fees" every time you turned around. It was going to cost us over $300 just to register our Chrysler Voyager for another year!!! It costs about $34 here in Ohio.
