Sears is being sued for mis-representing it's made in U.S.A. tools with many parts made elsewhere but since it's being sold under the guise of patriotism it should entirely made in U.S.A.

Sears accused of misleading public on Craftsman line- MSN Money

A judge hearing the case refused to classify the case a class action because there are potentially 40 million people who own Sears Craftsman tools.

If you're a mechanic, what's in your toolbox? Great American made tools or Chinese junk?

I've bought Craftsman tools for decades. I have two rollaways full of Craftsman and Snap-On tools. Other brands grace the drawers, but are still USA like Klein and MAC. Well over $50,000 worth....I've been buying since I was 10.

In the past, Craftsman tools were made very very well and had a lifetime no BS warranty. Now, when something breaks other than the "standard" stuff...either they quit making it and you are S.O.L. and can't get a replacement, or the replacement isn't the same thing. It's made different and looks different. It might even be made in China now. (Think those mini pliers and cutters). Craftsman 5 pc. Mini-Pliers Set - Tool Catalog - General Purpose Hand Tools - Pliers

Hey...I thought this was Craftsman....it's China s***!

The standard hand tools are always replaced without problems...it's just the special stuff. Don't come out with some sort of speciality tool long enough to sell it, and the warranty...ONLY to discontine it and fawk everyone a year or so later. I won't even buy Craftsman speciality tools anymore. They go out of production after awhile and when yours breaks...you are fawked. (Ex 1) This bone wrench here. THIS is what I'm talking about. Craftsman Dog Bone SAE Wrench: Pick Up Your New Best Friend at Sears

That's just one item like I spoke of. I wouldn't buy it if I were you. They are doing more and more of this. Hey....I bought a Craftsman lifetime warranty with that... "Too bad".

Buyers beware....ever since "K-FART" got teamed up with Sears...they've been on the dishonest take ever since......

I don't care where they are made. Especially after the election.

So the people who were lied too and actually spent the money are out in the cold because it would be a "nightmare" to manage a class action case. Isn't that wonderful.

Sounds like Sears is "too big to sue"

That's how I feel about "specialty" tools and having them discontinued a year or two later. It's not just "one" time either. They are making a habit of it. It's happened to just me on several occasions.

I've been seeing the China tools mixed in with the USA for some time now too. They used to keep them separate in a different aisle. They even had funky colors of grips and whatnot to tell them apart....Like bright fluorescent green grips on pliers instead of the red or black USA ones.

It's deliberate disception at it's finest. If I'm paying $8 for a screwdriver...it had better be USA and have a lifetime warranty. Otherwise, I'd just go to Menards and buy "Tool Shop" made in China s*** for $1.89.

Why should a tool need a lifetime warranty anyway? They are probably the same as the chinese crap at the same factory but they put made in the USA on it and sell it for five times as much and figure they may have to replace it once and still come out way ahead.

Have mostly Snap-On tools, for that reason. Quality & workmanship. However, nothing stays the same...bluepoint is Snap-On's Chinese operation. Pretty soon, they'll be importing stuff under Snap-On name.

The easiest way is to use the wallet for choice. Pure market economics.

You can take my disapproval as you wish CEOs of Sears.

As you can see, I'm no beginner and far from the new kid on the block. If I break something, I think you can afford not to cheat me.... You ain't seen nothin' yet boys..........just a few drawers.
