Small, family owned pharmacies have been closing since the Wal-Marts, Targets, and Meier's came around.

But ~ I'm sure you knew that, genius.

Is there a contest on C_D now, for who can post the most deceiving and stupid thread titles?
If so, I suggest it be called immediately since nobody can come close to competing with you.

Yeah thanks for your typical use of misleading titles there spanky. He said the uncertainty played a part, and that it was the future of americas healthcare, not the bill that had him worried. People would take you serious if you stop mining your subjects for tidbits of information, and ignoring the rest of the article.

There are three....count with me...1...2...3 small family owned pharmacies in my town. This is even though we have two Shoprite Supermarkets (with pharmacies), Walmart, Sams Club, two Rite Aids, Walgreens, 2 CVS's, Target (also with a pharmacy) and I'm sure that I left something out.

They all stay in business because they have a personal touch that the "big guys" cannot offer.

Good business people will stay in business regardless of competition.

Yet, CVS sees an opportunity for expansion:

CVS Caremark sees Obamacare as expansion opportunity - Yahoo! News

I suspect that the owner of the pharmacy simply wanted to retire, and he (per the article) sold his stock to another company. It could also be that he did not wish to invest in the computerization that is now required so that when a person fills a prescription for a controlled narcotic at one pharmacy, they cannot then go to another pharmacy with a different prescription (written by another MD) to fill the same medication.

Some people apparently don't read links before posting.

He also said uncertainly about the future of health care in America also played a role in his decision.

"The potential for a small pharmacy surviving in the coming years under Obamacare is going to be very difficult. And again, at my age, I just did not want to risk my retirement," Patterson explained.

So to be clear, are you claiming that since you have the evidence of three small family owned pharmacies in your town it disproves the trend noted by other poster of small family owned pharmacies closing down in the face of the rapid expansion of chains?

Look , my cousin owns a small pharmacy. I know it's hard; but be just rolled his eyes when I asked him about this. He won't be going anywhere for a long time. And,no, he was not an Obama supporter

More people getting prescriptions means more pharmacies will close? Do those suffering Obama derangement syndrome even understand basic economics?
