Statistically, there have been on average about 32 acts of mass murder each year over the last 31 years.

10News - Mass, multiple murders rates constant despite overall decline in homicides12172012 - News Story

There are about 30 dog-bite fatalities in the United States each year.

U.S. Dog Bite Fatalities - Dog Bite Statistics - DogsBite.org

About 77% of all dog-bite fatalities come from two breeds of dogs, Pit Bulls and Rottweilers.

If we are so concerned about mass murders. Shouldn't we be equally concerned about dog-bite fatalities?

If the only type of dog available was a Labrador. How many dog-bite fatalities would there be every year?

Well that settles it.

It's my right,

These shootings aren't really a bit deal,

Guns don't kill people only people kill people,

We need more guns not less guns,

It's my right,

spin, rinse, and spin some more.

well spin this, most ofthe mass shooting have been in liberal strongholds where gun control is the highest. after all, if guns would have been allowed in our school, these incidents might not have happened or they would have been lessened to a great degree.

Look, the point of my post was to put things in perspective.

The truth is, this shooting is sad, definitely. But how big a deal is on in the grand scheme of things? Pretty insignificant.

The truth is, mass killings are not on the rise. In fact, they are on the decline, or at the least, holding steady.

Associated Press Story: Believe It or Not Mass Killings Are Not on the Rise, They Are on the Decline | TheBlaze.com

I'm as sad as anyone else that little kids were killed. But when 1,500 children under the age of 18 are killed every single year. More than 300 of which are killed by their own parents. About 100 of which are abducted then killed. And there being a very steady reduction in homicide rates in this country over the last decade and a half. I think the left is trying to take advantage of a moment of sadness, to push an agenda that is both inconsistent, and dangerous.

My point is, about as many people are killed by dogs every year as the number of people killed in mass shootings, and 3/4ths of those people killed are from two breeds of dogs, Pit Bulls and Rottweilers. So I don't know why there is no outcry for "dog control", especially in regards to dangerous breeds, like there is the constant fighting about guns.

I mean, more than 40,000 people are killed every year in car accidents, many of which are children. If you contrast 40,000 with 32. It would take 1,250 years of mass killings to equal one year of car accident deaths.

There are more than 3,000 people who drown every year, about a quarter of all children ages 1-4 who die, died from drowning. Maybe we should ban swimming pools? I bet that would save more kids' lives than guns.

Drowning statistics - Drowning facts

Around 100 children are killed every year by accidental poisoning. Where is the outcry?

Poison Prevention Fact Sheet

I have nothing wrong with having a discussion about guns and what we should try to do to prevent tragedies like these. But I think the discussion needs to be kept in proportion.

The only difference between this shooting and any other shooting, was that it affected young children. And the people on the left who are talking about gun control, are trying to exploit these children to push their agenda.
