Christian Amendment, proposed first in February 1863, would have added acknowledgment of the Christian God / Jesus Christ in the Preamble to the Constitution. Similar amendments were proposed in 1874, 1896 and 1910 with none passing. The last attempt in 1954 did not come to a vote.
I am quiet surprised that since Christians have been dominated the congress, supreme court, nearly all presidents, and basically the entire federal since the creation of this nation (although some founding fathers were Deist) - How come Christians did not pass such a law?
Christians have successfully changed the national motto, made some other Christian based law, Christian holidays, etc. but yet they did not pass Christian Amendment law. I know we have the first amendment, but I'm still surprised they haven't repealed or changed it.
How come?
(I'm an agnostic myself, but I'm curious since Christians are by far the majority in this nation)
