Is this another pedantic thread trying to split the hairs between a semi-auto AR type rifle and a 3rd burst version as used by the U.S. Military and most law-enforcement?

So no AR used in the SH shootings? This will not calm down the hardend anti gun person but it will take the wind out of their sails. It its a hand gun ban they want it will be much harder to push that then the black gun ban. ARs have always been seen as the fringe edge that would be the easiest to pick off. Hand guns are a bit more difficult. I would say today 80 percent of all handguns are automatics. Hmmmm I still say not new gun legislation for at least two years. If that idiot would not have shot the fire firghters it may be a non issue. All these people buying AR for 1700 and up are not even getting kissed. LOL

I don't see that at all. If Lanza did not take his AR into the school than the kids were shot with hand guns. Most likely 9mm and maybe the 10mm he is said to have had. So the AR did not shoot any of the kids. A hand gun is much easier to maneuver than an AR in close quarters. I don't see your argument at all in this new development.

So at best the debate is on magazine size because you know a AR-15 with a 5 round magazine is only as powerful as a hunting rifle with a 5 rounder so why ban the rifle?

Uh, this is an old news clip from a day or two after the shootings when incorrect info was still coming out. There were not 4 handguns found... only two and the bushmaster. The gun recovered from the car was a shotgun. The chief medical examiner already stated the victims in the school were all shot with the AR-15.

Yep, listen to the reporter, he says (paraphrasing) "we've learned that on Dec 12th, Tuesday of this week, Lanza tried to purchase a gun from a Dicks sporting goods...". This was clearly a report from that weekend after the Friday shooting.
