How do you compete with .23 cents an hour? China can't even compete with that.
This turns 'Made in America' on it's head. Prisons contract with private company's, and the Dept of Defense. Prisoners are making everything from body armour, bullet proof vests, night vision goggles, riot helmets, to plastic forks and cups and Braille books for the blind.

Listen to this interview of Mike Elk, Labor Journalist. This labor pool provides incentives to keep illegals coming, and expand the prison population. The interviewer attempts to put a positive spin on this story.

Well given our rather tyrannical policy on drugs and the money hungry friends of congressmen, this is no surprise.

If it lowers defense costs, then I approve with reservations. Hopefully this doesn't compromise quality which, considering what is being made, would be very bad.

[sometimes with low cost labor you get low quality product]

It just amazes me that more people don't seem to care about this issue. Prisoners are employed, thereby making it easier to not hire you or compete in the free market.
Another factor is buying 250 billion dollars worth of imports from China, who uses forced prison labor.

The bottom line is that western countries place a higher value on cheap goods than human life. So I don't want to hear anyone complaining about slavery in the past, and not including our current support of it to this very day. Supposedly, slavery is against the law in all countries, but that is a farce and we all know it.

Now back to the important issues of bashing Christians for offending gays, pedophiles and trannies.

.
And were the choice $15 an hour labor costing employers $22-25 hour with benefits, guess what..robots would make these products.

In reality, prisoners are not taking other Americans' jobs. They are taking robots' jobs.

At $.23 per hour, the investment of the robot can't compete. At $25, the robot wins.

Hmm, ban guns and I bet these prisoners can make their own. With training we provided. Why does this sound so familiar?

Exactly! The hottest investment have got to be Federal Prison Industries, Correction Corporation of America, and UNICORP. I wonder how much stock Obama owns.

I've always been a proponent of prison labor... but this is not what I had in mind.

I can't really complain.
