In other words, you are recommending that we only pay off a certain amount of what we already owe. That would be like saying, "I am only going to pay for half of my credit card bill."
Servicing the existing debt is not 100% of revenue flowing into the government. Debt payments get first priority and everything else gets cut.
Obama wins and America loses and the liberals cheer it all on. Then the claim the republicans have taken the economy hostage is raised while they cheer on obamacare which took control of on sixth of the US economy. Are liberals really this far gone? Sadly they are. They have become parrots who are told what to say and not question anything. Useful idiots one and all.
The GOP's problem is obvious. They have taken a hostage they absolutely cannot afford to shoot- the US Economy.
That's why the president is "refusing" to negotiate- the GOP isn't holding any cards. Obama can lay the megaphone on the hood of his squad car, walk across the street to Starbucks, and chill.
A lot more logical place for the GOP to make a stand on spending cuts would be the sequestration and continuing resolution debates to come. As it is, they are like a guy who gets his credit card bill in the mail, and rants, "I charged too much last month! I REFUSE to make this payment!" Try that with your bank, and see how it works!
But there, I see I used "logical" and GOP in the same sentence...
The left lies, slanders and destroys.
They create nothing.
Obama has taken this economy hostage with his lies and I am saddened by the number of people who are too blind to see. He wants to tax our way out of this mess while adding more to the debt when it has already been shown that even if he quit spending their still aren't enough tax revenues to dig us out of this mess.
He has taken the economy hostage by his angry refusal to compromise on anything.
We are already seeing the writing on the wall as far as middle class tax increases yet still the left screams 'gut the rich'.
You don't you get it - when he says rich - he means middle class. Yes he throws around the rhetoric about the wealthy - but it is the middle class that will pay for his irresponsible spending - once he has reduced this nation to a 3rd world country will you still be cheering him then?
You realize that by doing this, our economy would crash huge don't you?
The economy NEEDS to crash. Time to reset the whole system and get back to the Constitution. If a program is not specifically enumerated then it gets CANCELLED and the responsbility (if any) is returned to the states. The FED has no business spending one penny on healthcare, welfare, education, etc.

Explain why you think the GOP is holding the US economy hostage.
I wish liberals understood economics rather than posturing. But logic, facts and history seem to elude them at every turn, especially the Bozo in the White House.
The debate should be about the budget. The time to debate was during the fiscal cliff. The GOP thought they could do better with the debt ceiling, wrong again.

Our country is in debt over 100 trillion dollars. How much more would you like to spend?

Barak "the deadbeat" does not understand a budget. That is why he has never signed one.
