Let the voters decide how long they should be there. Lets get it done this year
I'd rather make the presidency a 6 year term, representatives a 4 year term, and then set term limits at 1 term. Therefore none of our elected officials would be beholden to any special interests or campaign contributions for re-election since there would be no re-election.
Then repeal the 17th amendment so that the state legislatures elected Senators as the founders intended, so the federal government could no longer ignore the 10th amendment.
Then institute terms for Supreme Court justices so they can't sit there legislating from the bench for decades.
The Republicans will never let it happen. Because they know that when a Democrat gets in power, the country will prosper, the people will be happy, and they will keep reelecting the same candidate over and over, and the Republicans will never have a chance.
If we didn't have term limits, Bill Clinton would still be president, we'd have a budget surplus, and everybody would be working and happy. The Bushtard would have never gotten elected and had the chance to F-it all up.
You posted in the wrong forum, please have thie moved to the joke thread...

So when does that start? I'm waiting...ohh I forgot we are at 7.8% unemployment...my heart is a flutter...
Give me a break! Term limits are there for a reason (take a history class).
I suggest you take a look at Article 5 of the United States Constitution, and then PLEASE return to this thread and explain how you intend to accomplish that goal.
We can do whatever we want if enough money and time is put to it.
If they didn't manage to get rid of term limits to extend the presidency of Ronald Reagan, one of the most popular presidents in modern history at the end of a second term, it isn't going to happen for Obama.
This is a very different time. Many of Reagans voters are with him. See my thread on President Obama's America vs Reagans America.

This is so true. Can you imagine how big it would be if Bush and friends were not allowed to rob the public trust.
