It's exactly what the auro industry said when emission control standards were enacted yet here we are with engines better, cleaner, and longer lived than ever.
The problem is no transition when it comes to power. Solar and wind are not yet viable as solutions to providing mass amounts of energy on a constant basis.

Obama EPA kills power plant, 3,900 jobs in Texas | WashingtonExaminer.com

Many companies are presently trying to take advantage of America's need for jobs to circumvent regulations that protect our natural resources or safety.

Would be helpful if your link provided information as to exactly what regulations this company would like to circumvent.

LOL, the owner "kills" a plant which never existed, which is costing 3900 jobs which never existed, and it's all, because of that "Marxist Leader".

It just keeps getting better.

But there are certainly ways to produce power more cleanly from coal, the ways the utilities claim are not affordable.

I don't know either way but as I've said, their cries of "we can't afford that" are remarkbly similar to the cries of the auto industry when emissions standards came into being and despite the bumps along the way that industry survived quite well.

Of course I'd like to know how many of the usual " Obama blah, blah, blah ) would like to have their house and/or children's school downwind of a nice, dirty burning plant?

Here is the real reason your power plant plan didn't go!

Quote:
The Texas company seeking to build a power plant to burn a coal-like fuel in Corpus Christi gave up ghost last week, done in by more competitive natural gas and wind alternatives. The developer of the proposed Las Brisas Energy Center announced it was going out of business after failing to find enough investors to keep its uneconomic project on life support.
Quote:
A state court last year found that Texas authorities had issued Las Brisas a defective clean air permit that did not meet control technology requirements for mercury and other dangerous air pollutants. The project also had yet to obtain a permit for emissions of climate-changing carbon dioxide.

Yeah, those Marxist local medical societies.

This thread is a prime example of the difference between hardcore conservatives and reasonable people. For hardcore conservatives, all regulations are bad even if they protect the public's health. It's also a good example why we want a President who will use government to protect the people.

Thanks XXX for this thread.
