If you want to regulate something, does that mean you are anti? (weapon, abortions)

Some seem to think that regulation means you are against whatever you are regulating. Does this hold for cars, alcohol, guns, public television, etc...

Preposterous! Some things need to be regulated including guns, since that's the cause de jour. But regulated doesn 't necessarily mean registered.

Statists would hold that the benevolent central government has our best interest in mind when they pass fascist edicts that circumvent the constitution (e.g. "assault weapon bans"), when in reality they are ceding their liberty to a group of authoritarian elitist central planners that think we cannot take care of ourselves without their enlightened "regulations".
