And it reminded us that bad decisions in Washington can get in the way of our economic progress," said Obama

No kidding. He sure is brilliant isn't he? Did he create another commission to come up with this?

The president did not name which decisions were "bad," and who specifically was to blame for those "bad decisions." But he did blame Washington.

And it would seem that he believes more of the same will fix the problem. Remember, he has the same person running the economy as the previous administration.

He blames but never does anything.....7.9% unemployment? This is the new norm...very sad.

Nobody "runs the economy"; that portion which is free to do so simply reacts to the attempts to use the state's monopoly on the use of force to "run" it.

If you want "more jobs" -- fine! But be prepared to acknowledge that supply and demand will push wage levels down just a bit more, and the root cause of that is that more people, particularly those formerly restricted by racial and sexual barriers, have been admitted to the game, and ACORN, OWS, and other elements of the Democrats' pointing, grunting, slobbering "core constituency" won't like it, and will start mouthing the usual mantras about "big business', "idle rich", etc, etc, etc.

Most of our current "troubles" arose from the simple fact that the position we enjoyed as the only healthy economic super-power in 1946 continues to erode under global pressures beyond anyone's control. The alternative is a return to mercantilism and eventually, its ultimate product -- global war. Obama knows this -- just can't afford to be candid enough to admit it. So do George Will and any number of folks from both sides of the regular public-affairs media I could cite.

Life goes on; there are those who plan from year to year, and those who live from beer to beer. It's Super Bowl Sunday, and baseball and NASCAR start to fire up next week; might as well join the latter for a while.

This is just like anything else in life. A person can have a bad past and they have a choice. They can choose to continue to go on just the same and blame their life on their past or they can make changes to improve and become successful in spite of it.

Finger pointing does nothing productive and improves nothing.

Unfortunately, that's what we have going on in this administration.

And going forward.."investments in education and infrastructure".
Sounds like another stimulus bill. It's 2009 all over again.

And it's not an "investment" because investment implies you're going to get your money back.
It's SPENDING, plain and simple.

And then we have the "we can't cut our way to prosperity".
But we haven't even tried yet and already he's decided it can't be done.

That tells me...no cuts and more spending.

Yes, "runs" was a poor choice of words for what the powers that be does here.

You can not learn from the mistakes of the past unless you are willing to point them out and acknowledge them.

I agree with Obama, bad decisions are what put us into this mess, and the biggest bad decision of all time was electing Obama President. The nation is going to pay for that bad decision for a very long time to come.
