Chicago police no longer responding to all 911 calls

Isn't that wonderful? If someone breaks into your property, steals your car...you are SOL.

Now the criminals will have free reign to do whatever the hell they want to do. Let the law abiding folks suffer.

No only exercising your 2nd Amendment rights is hard but now you will be left to fend for yourself.

"However, some Chicago aldermen suggested the changes will prove difficult to swallow for crime victims."

Huh, isn't this the town where approx 90% of murders go unsolved due, in most part, from lack of co-operation by the citizens?

Wonder if there are any exceptions for Chicago's political luminaries?

So if you are in Chicago make sure you always say the perp may still be lurking or you expect him to return shortly after he goes back home to get another mag for his AK-47.

Complaints about your happy meal order at McDonalds will not send the police??? In Chicago that call would be a red flag for sure.

Another day, another sensational headline...

It's increasingly common for municipalities to assign priority to reported crimes and not automatically send an officer to investigate all reports. What exactly is an officer supposed to do beyond take a report when someone reports auto theft, simple burglary of a garage or simple assualt, which is usually a perceived threat of battery, that usually go nowhere. Of course the latter needs to be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Some municipalites also no longer send an officer to respond to simple auto accidents. The victims file a Police report in person or online.

Firstly, police has no duty to protect you at all. Maybe news to you but it is a long established legal doctrine

Secondly, police can't respond to all 911 calls, particularly in large cities. If my memory serves me right, in LA there are on average 3 million 911 calls a year, only a third get some response.

It's time to make some compromise on guns: let's take more guns out of law abiding citizens.

Needs more repeating. That's why our phone is not near us when we go to sleep, because we won't need it until after the intruder is dealt with.

Have you called 911 lately? response time is about 10 minutes.

Most calls to the police are "after the fact". If you're counting on the police to come a rescue you, I wish you all the best.

The 2nd amendment still exists and nothing has changed to prevent you from protecting yourself or property.

I am armed. I live in NH where I don't have to jump through hoops to exercise my right.

But the law abiding Chicago resident can't say the same.

So, you're left on your own.

Shoot
Shovel
Shut up

Then get on with your day.
