So what is California's ranking in buisness failures? If you are going to spout statistics, make sure they are not one sided and misleading.

There are a lot of businesses, especially tech businesses, who deliberately locate here because of the deep talent pool and because of the best in the world availability of venture capital funding opportunities. When it comes to venture capital for start ups just southern California by itself exceeds any other state in venture capital funding while the bay area by itself gets more venture capital investment than the entire rest of the country combined. Yes, California is that dominate in venture capital firms funding start ups.

San Diego is an also ran when it comes to venture capital being below the big players like Boston, NYC, Chicago, LA, SF but it, by itself, still gets more venture capital funding than the entire state of Texas each and every year. Both LA and SF get vastly more than SD yet SD destroys red state champions like Texas each and every year. Ignore that funding and innovation advantage if you want but I think you're foolish.

deep talent pool
Again.. take the natural beauty away and there would be an exodus of business and "talent" leaving that Liberal cesspool of a State...IMHO..

About 75% of start ups fail in the first five years and that figure is pretty much the same no matter which state you go to. There is essentially no difference.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but yours seems to be especially devoid of facts and off in fantasy land. For instance, there will always be an advantage to being as close to your customers as possible and having your business located next to some of the largest markets in the country will always be an attraction. Then there are things like infrastructure; some states have spent big to make sure things work correctly and efficiently while others have decided they can't be bothered to build critical infrastructure. That is a critical advantage which California has but which other states do not. Lastly, education, many deep red states have very poor educational achievement for their population while California as a whole ranks 3rd in the country when higher education is included. That will continue to be an advantage for the state well into the future.

Like millions of illegal Mexicans to exploit.

Nothing pumps up the bottom line like cheap, illegal labor. Thank God the retards in Sacramento treat them as a protected class.

Prop 187 was hardly nice to illegals yet the Federal courts are the ones who tossed that law out as being unconstitutional. Me thinks you're barking up the wrong tree. Besides, California is hardly the only state with illegals. Pass a Federal bill which has serious punishments for any company which hires illegals and you'll find half of our illegals problem disappears over night in the entire country.

I doubt a bill with really harsh penalties would ever pass Congress though especially since big business doesn't want to give up it's cheap illegal labor habit and Republicans just love to protect big business to the determinant of everyone else especially small or medium sized businesses.

That's funny as the states with the most business competition are all blue states. Just like the states with the highest median household income are mostly blue states, the states with the most educated work forces are mostly blue states, the states which actually net pay taxes (vs being net taker states) are mostly blue states, the states with the best health care tend to be blue states... The list goes on and on. You can accuse blue states of being many things but in the end you must admit they've been far more successful than most red states as far as business and finance is concerned. Not to mention their populations just tend to be richer than red state populations.

To paraphrase your statement: "Blue states suck at competition and that's why red states are so much poorer than blue states!"

Nope, sorry, but your statement just doesn't add up or pass the smell test.
