Based on the screen title, they were obviously talking global warming and its relation to global weather. The host then tried to move to the next big science topic currently in the news, near earth asteroids... unfortunately they chose an awful segue. Bill Nye was focused on talking about the asteroids, and just avoided the "global warming" segue since it's obviously ridiculous. Really not much to see here, just a bad news topic segue.

What a maroon. Haven't seen an anchorwoman that clueless since Fox & Friends explained that the success of German solar power couldn't be emulated by the US, due to - wait for it - Germany's better weather.

You can call it what you want and make excuses. It's pretty bad to even think of linking the two together.
