If you're in your car, like these people, and some nutjob starts shooting, he's not going to notice a firearm on your hip. You're not going to stop the car, get out, and engage in a shootout either, unless you're as unstable as the guy who started shooting in the first place.

The gun didnt act alone and shoot the kid, the human operator CHOSE to shoot that kid.
Blaming an inanimate object for the actions of its human operator is indicative of very limited critical thinking skills and leads one to believe you may have some mental issues of your own.

Ever thought of that maybe the shooter would miss the first few shots and the mother could shoot back and stop him?
It's not a 100% guarantee but it surely changes the odds.
On the other hand, can you explain to us how without gun, the shooter wouldn't be able to murder?
Again, I need to remind all of you, that a dead child and a mother raped and killed is morally superior than she shot and stopped the murderer with her gun.
