No, let's sticking to the subject of the thread. Try defending just one of those bills being made by Republicans.

3.) The full state Senate in Oklahoma will take up a measure to allow companies to strip birth control and abortion coverage from employer healthcare plans under a bill that unanimously cleared the committee level last week.

4.) The chairman (John Goedde (R)) of the education committee in Idaho’s Senate introduced a bill earlier this month that would make students read — and pass a test — on “Atlas Shrugged” as a requirement for a high school diploma.

5.) In Oklahoma, go right ahead and argue that humans and dinosaurs roamed the earth at the same time. On a 9-8 vote last week, the Oklahoma Common Education committee approved the so-called Scientific Education and Academic Freedom Act.

If the bill becomes law, it would make it illegal for biology teachers to fail students who write papers against evolution, climate change and other theories with near 100 percent approval in the scientific community.

Read this.

Full Text of H.R. 3590 (111th): Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act - GovTrack.us

Warning: it is more than 2,000 pages long and our then Speaker of the House encouraged people to not read it before it was passed - in fact she said that "we need to pass(the bill) so we can find out what is in it".

What is wrong with these people?

1. I don't agree with this. But, this is not some exclusively conservative thing. This is no more crazy than the Democrats' cozy relationships with GM and GE.

2. So what? The 2nd amendment says the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. If something shall not be infringed, then proposing legislation which infringes on it is simply a waste of time and money as it will be by definition unconstituional.

3. Again, so what? It's OK for Democrats to want to mandate coverage of X but if Republicans want to ban coverage X they are crazy? This isn't coverage of heart disease here. Both birth control and abortion are elective.

4. And for the third time, so what? There was a thread on this forum just a little while back about a teacher requiring caucasion students to write letters of apology for slavery. A campaign sponsored by the University of Minnesota to promote awareness of white privilege. A principal who suspended students for wearing American flags on May 5.

5. Same as #1. Should we teach that evolution is wrong because social conservatives want God in school? No. But we shouldn't be teaching a lot of the liberal political ideas as factual either. Are there any of the Women's or African American Studies programs that actually teach critical thinking and multiple points of view?

#2 Is absolutely correct. It's our RIGHT per the constitution. Any legislation for restrictions is a violation of the Oath they swore to, to uphold and defend!!

Sure. #3 about allowing abortion and birth control to be removed from insurance coverage shouldn't even require defending.

Feminists have ramped the issue up to hysterical proportions and given it sacred cow status. It's kind of like the whole Satanist scare hysteria from back in the 80s where fear of Satanic cults went "viral" and people whipped each other up into a frenzy that culminated with the McMartin Preschool case. In this situation it culminated in the mass adoption by liberals of the logically and rationally absurd notion that simply not giving women birth control for free was waging war on them. It was also said over and over again with no truth whatsoever that conservatives wanted to "ban" birth control.

There is no logical reason whatsoever that birth control or abortion should have to be covered by insurance companies. Insurance does not cover lasik eye surgery. Insurance does not cover breast implants. Insurance does not cover gender reassignment surgery. Insurance does not cover liposuction. It doesn't give you free vitamins, asprin, shaving cream, toothpaste, shampoo, cold remedies, suntan lotion, etc.

Insurance does not cover elective procedures.

Getting pregnant is not contracting a disease. Sex is a purposeful and voluntary action with pregnancy as a known possible consequence.

That sex is a natural action and biological drive is the usual response to that, but it is irrelevant. First, eating is too, but medical insurance doesn't cover your grocery bills. Second, men also have the same drive but insurance isn't required to cover their prophylactics and even though they don't get pregnant they do get STDs. Third, there are millions of people who are voluntarily or involuntarily abstinent and they survive just fine.

And if you do get pregnant, you don't necessarily need an abortion. You might, but while it is common for pro choicers to trot out pregnancy horror stories, in reality they want insurance to cover all abortions. You have no business getting an abortion that you want for lifestyle reasons covered by health insurance. Health insurance doesn't exist to subsidize your lifestyle choices or your sex life. And this is where the pro choicer says the cost of an abortion is less than the cost of a pregnancy. Well, fine. If the insurance company wants to cover your abortion they can. That's their choice on whether they want to cover an optional procedure for cost savings. It's not your place to mandate it.

There is no reason whatsoever that womens' birth control shouldn't come with usual co-pays that any other medication would. And there is no reason that an insurance company shouldn't be able to refuse coverage of elective abortions.
